Please explain the obligation to go to Mass on Sunday?

My husband does not believe that not going to Mass on Sunday is a mortal sin. He believes the commandment to “keep holy the Sabbath” just means to pray.

How does the Church connect the fourth commandment with the Sunday obligation?
