Please help! Can you answer ASAP regarding clothes for First Holy Communion?

Why do girls dress as brides for First Holy Communion? My granddaughter will recieve her First Holy Communion next Sunday, May 4th. My daughter bought her a purple dress, and refused to buy a veil. She said the parish told the parents it isn’t necessary to wear white, much less dress like a bride. I was under the impression that white is worn to symbolize the purity of the soul prepared to meet Christ and is dressed as a bride (or a groom for boys) to symbolize that Jesus is the Bridegroom of the soul. Am I wrong about this? If so, how? If not, what can I show my daughter, and the parish sacrament preparation director?

The point is not to dress up like a bride but to symbolize the purity with which one receives Our Blessed Lord in the Eucharist. It is holy garb. Brides dressed in white are supposed to symbolize rhe purity with which they enter the sacrament of Matrimony.

Your daughter needs to recognize just how unique and sublime her daughter’s first Holy Communion truly is! Nothing that child expriences can come close to receiving the Body and Blood of God into her own body.
