Hello,
6 weeks ago, my husband awoke a little after 3:00 AM to find a woman standing next to our bed. She had long hair and was wearing a long red dress (robe?). Her arms were outstretched with one pointing upward, the other pointing downward. She was staring into the middle distance. She did not speak nor in any way acknowledge us. My husband stared at her and after several seconds, she faded away. He has never seen any sort of apparition or vision before and is a very level-headed sort of person. He didn’t know what to think and he actually pulled the covers over his head! Around 10 minutes later, we got a call from my niece saying that my brother-in-law had died. He was not religious at all. It seems like too much of a coincidence to think the two events were not connected in some way. We are both active and committed Catholics, regular mass-attenders - so basically, we hope that this was a Heavenly messenger of some type but not sure what to think.

Thoughts? Ideas? Similar experiences?

It is kind of strange that the figure didn’t say or do much.

please speak to your Priest.

I am sorry for your loss and will pray for your bro in law

Thank you for your prayers. The red dress confuses me as well.

Thank you for your prayers. When you say we are not to discuss it, do you mean as a matter of faith, or in regard to the rules of this forum? I just want to be sure that I understand.

Thank you for your response. I would like to speak to a priest about it. However, our parish is so large (3000+ families) that our 2 priests are overwhelmed and under-available.

Very true. If the woman was a Heavenly messenger, she did not deliver a clear message.

rules of this forum

we are not to discuss any revelation or apparitions not approved by the Church.

make an appointment with your Priest or the Priest conducting the funeral Mass. He should make time for your family at this time

Sorry! Wasn’t sure how it would be taken. Couldn’t resist, having been “5-0” for 31 years and a well paid moderator on, ahem, another forum. Over there, we have to laugh, because many of us are dying.

Few days before my Dad passed away, he told us he was seeing old friends and acquaintances. Perhaps, the woman in red was a relative or friend?? Your husband may not have recognized her perhaps she appeared in her youth?

Aha! Recognized the thought process! In forum life, as in “real” life it is far better to self-regulate. If we do not, in the spiritual realm and in the secular, either the Lord or the police will regulate us. Neither is all that pleasant.
