I’d like to choose the saint who is comfortable to pray for the lonely, bad, stupid, meditative people like me.
I am male and can I choose a female saint?

Well, you’re a Child of the Most High God, first of all, so don’t be so hard on yourself. 🙂

Yes, you can.

In regards to actually finding a patron, you just need to look at saints and their lives. Wikipedia is a good source- just look through their biographies and patronages and see what strikes you.

You can choose a saint of either sex .

But it is for you to choose .

Don’t say your bad or stupid…ever…
God - did NOT put those self describing thoughts within you…
As for saints…I believe one of them considered himself a dumb ox …

I bet you have the melancholic personality.

Literally any saint might do, although some are just more willing to work with you than others. You have to experiment a bit. I would recommend St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Dominic Savio, St. Pio of Pietrelcina, St. Joan of Ark or St. Alphonsus Liguori to start.

Yeah, lots of saints were considered lonely, bad and stupid as well as being meditative. In addition to “The Dumb Ox” already posted, saints who were considered “stupid” included St. Andre Bessette, St. John Vianney, St. Bernadette Soubirous, St. Germaine Cousins, and St. Catherine Laboure. Many saints experienced feelings of loneliness at some time.

I don’t think you are bad or stupid. Of course you can choose a female saint. I think a good saint would be Saint Joseph of Cupertino

Yes, I forgot St. Joseph of Cupertino when making my list of saints who were considered not very intelligent. He was another of those.

When I was still a fairly young woman I became introduced to St. Joseph’s novena. After that, although I love and pray and read about many of our Saints, St. Joseph is what I would call my Patron Saint. I’m a girl and I think he’s okay with it. He’s often who I turn to when I’m beside myself.

Hope you come back and let us know who you have found to be your Patron Saint!

I picked St. Monica. Mostly because I liked the sound of the name. As time went by I thought I’d made a really poor choice as she seemed to have nothing to do with my life. But she turned out to be the PERFECT choice. I really do think my choosing her was divinely inspired.

I picked Therese of Lisieux. She was a very introspective and highly sensitive girl, and it fit me at the time. Her total confidence in God’s love and mercy was very inspiring and is now one of a piece with my devotion to the Divine Mercy.

I picked St. Bernard of Clairvaux. He was eloquent in speech about the Faith, obedient to the Pope and left his Abby to preach despite his desire to stay and pray, wrote the Rule for militant Catholic orders (and is the patron Saint of the Templars), and a Doctor of the Church.

You can choose any saint you want.
