I don’t know where to turn. I’m fixing to be married 25 years and I have a 14 year old son and I’m also a care giver to my mom that lives with us and I’m at my ropes end. My husband drinks all the time. I have fussed at him and we have had some big fights over drinking over the years now I don’t even talk to him about it anymore. I know there isn’t any use to. He isn’t going to stop just cause I ask him to. PLEASE I beg you all please pray for him to stop. Its going to kill him and all my son is going to know that his dad drunk the whole time he was growing up. I’m having a real bad night tonight. I have seen a lot of my loved ones die in the past few years and my mom is in real bad health and cant stand to lose anyone else that is close to me. My sister, my nephew and my Dad all in the last few years and I’m so low right now and my husband there isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t drink and gets drunk everyday, He is a REAL good man and I love him with all my heart. he takes good care of his family but he just wont stop drinking. and I really want to devote more of myself to God and live more for God than I’m doing now. I really wanted someone to talk to.
Please pray for my husband and my mom she has very bad lungs.
Thank you all so much !!!

Dear Bren,
It seems like there are a lot of things weighing heavily on you at the moment and of course I will pray for you and your husband and son and mother. It seems even miraculous that you are able to think as you do under the circumstances.
You are living for God right now, in the care you give your mother and son and husband.
With your husband I imagine he is an alcoholic and it isnt easy to give up no matter how much he wants to do so. First he needs to see that he is an alcoholic and admit to it and then want help. When this happens it is possible to renew all.
Perhap those of us who read this forum would pray for your husband. But we will pray that the Lord will give him a moment of real clarity and vision to see that he is hurting his family and that he has to do something about it.
God bless and its ok to dump here.
GraceAngel.

Will keep you all in prayer! One of the very things I prayed for today at Mass during Holy Communion was for all those that are addicted to anything. God bless you and take care of yourself too.

You all don’t know how much I apericate you praying for us. I wish with all my heart I could do something or make him see what he is doing to himself and to the family. Ive wanted to leave him over it but I know that isn’t Gods plan. I know I’m here for the long haul. I just don’t want my son to have to deal with it. He loves his Dad and he can do no wrong in his eyes But I don’t want him to remember Dad that way, My Dad passed away in March of last year and I got to thinking about him tonight and crying caused I miss hearing his voice. My mom is nearly 80 and is very frail. she suffers with a Chronic lung infection from working in a cotton mill all her life.
I know all of the talking and begging isn’t going to get him to stop.I have begged and talked until I’m blue in the face. The only one that can get him to stop is God. I don’t have anyone to talk to about him and I came straight here tonight hoping and praying someone would help me pray for him. Thank you all so much !!

Bren, you are in my prayers!

I can’t offer much good advice except to suggest you place all of this on the altar at each Mass you assist at. Also consider having Masses offered for your husband. Most people don’t realize that such MAY be done while a person is alive. It truly does supply much grace.

Praying for you and your family. You are serveing our Lord by caring for your Mother. My wife had to care for her mother, and take care of our daughter who was about 2yrs old. That was over 30 yrs ago.We were in our 20’s.My father passed away in 1992,my wife and I were the care givers and we both had fulltime jobs.I know its hard.I also know the Lord will work it out.Peace.

I am so very sad to read all you are suffering and you seem to feel alone in it all too…May The Lord grant you strength and courage and Peace and your son also…may you know The Lord’s presence with you in every moment…keeping your husband and Mom and this whole situation in daily prayer with Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Rita, patron of desperate causes…
Dear me, in enduring all you are and trying to keep Faith and trust in God please do be assured you are living courageously for God and dearly He must love and appreciate you…

Dear Bren,

My heart goes out to you, I share in your pain. I will include you in my daily prayer to St. Monica, who perseveringly pursued her wayward husband and son, not with wild threats, but with prayerful cries to heaven. I will pray for you also, that you may find peace and joy in all you do.

PRAYER TO ST. MONICA

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for

the conversion of my husband and the strong faith of my son, the conversion of all sinners in my family and of the spouses being prayed for here by CAF members,

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

I am praying for you, Bren. God bless you…you are under a lot of stress. Have you ever considered seeing a counselor to deal with the stress? Just a thought! It is extremely stressful living with an alcoholic.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and in the hour of our death. Amen.

I will pray for your intentions in my rosary tonight.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary
