I need help being able to repent for my sins because tomorrow I am going to confession. Apparently I need to have a contrite heart with a prefect love for GOD, but I don’t have that. I don’t always obey all of HIS commandments- no one does. I know we at least need to have the will to obey and love HIM, but I don’t know if I can do that by tomorrow afternoon. Also, I’ve been having trouble humbling myself because, for whatever reason, I’ve been having trouble surrendering myself to GOD and admitting my mistakes. I decided to go to confession because I believe I committed a mortal sin, and know that I need to go to confession now. I’ve been crying out of frustration because I know I probably won’t be able to go to confession because I don’t have a perfect love for GOD, and my pride is getting in the way of this. Do you have any suggestions or ways to help? I want to pray for help, and I have, and I want to trust that GOD will help me, but I’m having trouble with that as well. It would be amazing if you could help me. Thanks so much and GOD BLESS YOU!

Hi Worlds,

It’s difficult for any of us to have a perfect love for God, because we are so human, and we are imperfect. So, just try your best.

It is normal to get distracted when we pray, for example, but just do your best. It is your intention that counts.

When you pray to God, just ask Him for help. Try not to let it get complicated, if that seems to be what is causing problems for you. Try not to worry about the outcome, like if you did something right or wrong with your prayers, etc. Try not to be anxious about any of it.

Prayers for you that everything will work out alright, dear one. :console:

Praying for you to make a good confession. God knows in your heart you have true sorrow for your sins. Then do not miss Mass. God bless you.

Hello,

If it’s possible, try talk about all these to the priest during the confession. Or maybe if the priest have time to talk after the confession. I usually do that and feel so much better 🙂

I think what you feel right now is a very good start! 👍 Wanting to repent, instead of feeling indifference of your sins - that’s your conscience working 👍👍

Have a faith, because it might be the evil one is trying to discourage you, the faithful, from confessing, but don’t be afraid and just go. It helps to pray right before confession and calm down. God bless you!

Thank you for helping me with this, Im asking for help from GOD so I can do this. Thanks so much!

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide and inspire you; and trust that He will, however you feel.

Our feelings matter less than our intentions.
We’re human, Our love for anyone, including God, will only be perfect in heaven.
In the meantime we do the best we can manage.
Your intentions are to repent, to confess, and to try not to sin.
God sees these intentions and that is pleasing to Him.

May God give your soul and mind trust in His merciful
and his Father welcomed and forgave him love for you.

Jesus told us the story of the disobedient and selfish son, and the loving Father, to show mus God’s love, God’s forgiveness.
Did the Prodigal son have perfect contrition?
No, but he came back to his Father, admitting his sin and his need,
and his Father welcomed him with joy and celebration. Luke 15:11-32

God bless you now and always.

Kind wishes and prayers,
Trishie

Here is a standard prayer for an act of contrition:

“O my God, I am most heartly sorry for having offended you. I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because I have offended you my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.”

In the confession, an act of sorrow based on the fear of hell is acceptable and satisfactory for the forgiveness of sins. Noone is saying that it is the best of kind of sorrow since love is superior. But it is sufficient to have one’s sins in the confession forgiven.

Later think about the suffering Jesus endured for you, and this will help you develope that real love of him and the best hatred of sin.

May God our Father give you grace and peace.

I feel what is wrong. I too do not always have a contrite heart, and I feel like a terrible person but you just need to push and pray and try to be truly sorry for your sins. God knows what your objective and want is.
