Please help me with First Communion Banner

With all due respect puzzleannie, ummm, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

For our parish it’s not really optional. It’s a pew marker and keepsake. My son has his hanging up in his room and my daughter is looking forward to making hers soon.

I’m sorry this topic is annoying to you, but other parents do have questions about this–esp those of us who are converts and don’t know any better. Give us some slack, please

well excuse me, I thought I had given some fairly helpful suggestions, if they don’t help you, disregard them, but for curiosity, why did you ask if you don’t want suggestions?

LOL, Annie, I DIDN’T ask, someone else did. I also offered ideas and links and such. You must admit you can be quite abrupt when you post, it’s part of your charm .
I’m not sure why this thread popped up, there was another one, more recent, where someone asked the question again. I linked to this old one because it had ideas and pics. Really, it’s all good, I promise

What I find interesting about this thread is that all these suggestions are for what CHILDREN have done for first communion - the OP is an ADULT going through RCIA!!!

I think the banner is a bit - um - weird for an RCIA class.

When I went through RCIA we were all asked to make a white communion stole - similar to what the priest wears, but short, only to your waist.

Like this, but short:

This was our “white garment” after baptism and the other sacraments. I think it was much more appropriate for adults than a banner.

But that is my opinion.

What should I put on it? It can be anywhere from poster board size to three feet square.

I am in RCIA, so I wasn’t brought up Catholic, and haven’t seen one in person.

Wow! First off, this is an old thread, and the project came out wonderfully, and we proudly displayed her banner out front the day of her first Eucharist.

As fas as it being a “Lame” topic…EXCUSE ME! I am not a seasoned know it all Catholic
Not everyone visiting this site is a know it all. Some of us don’t have Catholic traditions to fall back on. I wanted my daughter to NOT feel left out.

Ahhhhh - ok, makes sense now. I’ve heard of some weird things done at RCIA classes, glad to hear they are not having them make banners!!!
