I am attracted to girls and guys. It makes me feel really bad about myself. I feel bad because I am constantly living my life sinning but what makes me feel guilty is the fact that I am not sorry for it. I need help and do not know what to do. I want to fix this and get my life back in order and I need advice and your prayers please.

According to the Catechism, it is not your sexual attractions which are themselves sinful. You cannot help who you are attracted to. The only sin arises in the acting upon those desires. So unless you’ve actually gone out and slept with a person of the same-sex, you are not guilty of any sin here. Even if you have, any sexual relations outside of the confines of marriage is sinful, so it’s not really any worse than if you had slept with a person of the opposite sex either.

It sounds like you’re on the right path though, it’s a hard road but not an intraversible one. God bless 🙂

so as long as I do not act upon my desires/attractions then it is not a sin. but if I act upon it then it is a sin and I should go to confessions but sins will not be forgiven if you are not sorry you will not be forgiven and I have been in one same sex relationship and I am not sorry for it so I am living my life with a sin and I feel bad but I don’t know what to do I have prayed about it many times and it has not helped me at all.

From my understanding of it, you don’t necessarily have to feel sorry for your sin, but you do have to acknowledge that it is a sin, and have a willingness or a resolve to not commit that sin again in the future.

Kinda outside my level of expertise though, I’d speak with a priest about it to be sure

I don’t feel sorry. I am very willing to change I just don’t know how.
yes I’m Catholic. No I have not spoken to a priest. Yes I have been to confession.
I’m afraid of what is going to be said to me. I mean I’m 16 I feel like people are just going to say it is hormones and it will pas but I know that is not the case.

" it is hormones and it will pass but I know that is not the case." Very true
i’m 75.5 & it hasn’t passed. Jesus & St. Paul both recommended celibacy so as
to be closer to the Divine, else romance / marriage / family are the path.

Are you aware that frequent overeating will make you horny ? It will, making
it nearly impossible to be pure of heart. Better to under eat.

If your giving into attractions and have the intention of being with someone of the same sex then there is sin. If you are fighting against attractions of people of the same sex then there is no sin. Sometimes we can semi consent and that may ne a venial sin. If you have sinned you should feel guilty. Do not worry what the priest will say, they have heard it all many times and most priests will help you get through sinful desires.

I have literally never heard this. Are you being serious??
And if this is the case, my husband would never be able to leave the house, lol.

I wouldnt take it as far as was said, but you certainly can say no to lust better once you’ve said no to chocolate and carbs for a week. The will is a muscle that must be exercised.

Personal xperience here. Eat wisely but NOT well. Earthly food
gives no Grace, which you need to be pure of heart.
“Not by bread alone”

Yes lustful thoughts are sinful, though the attraction in and of itself isn’t. Also, what makes you say that it is worse to sleep with a same-sex person than it is to sleep with a person of the appropriate gender? Both performed outside of marriage, they would both be mortal sins wouldn’t they?

I don’t like to classify what is a mortal sin or isn’t, that’s above my paygrade. I will say, that in a sin, there can be multiple. Homosexuality is a sin in itself. Not all sins are equal especially in that realm.

You’re not hopeless, my friend. God still wants to be in a relationship with you-- that’s why He sent His Son to die for you. I’ll remember you in my prayers.

The Catechism refers to ‘homosexual acts’ when speaking of homosexuality. Everyone I have spoken with, including multiple priests, have assured me that simply being homosexual (or in this case bisexual) is not itself a sin. But acting upon those homosexual urges is a sin.

Even though you say you are not sorry, the fact that you feel bad about your sin, that you call it a sin, and that you want to change all indicate sorrow. For true sorrow is NOT a feeling. It is the decision to reject your sin, and to be willing to try to avoid that sin in the future. It is a detestation for the committed sin, with the purpose of not sinning any more. So it seem clear from what you have said that you may have sufficient contrition for a valid confession. Go to confession, and trust God.

But acting upon those homosexual urges is a sin.
I agree 100%. You stated that sleeping with the opposite sex was equal to sleeping with the same sex in immoral behavior. Which isn’t the case.
