If your husband wants to help you and you want to help him, maybe you should check out the book/website/etc. LOVE AND RESPECT. loveandrespect.com/ You mentioned that your love languages are very different—most men and women have very different love languages…this book is excellent. And can help you learn how to respect your man like he needs you to.

RETROUVAILLE! I cannot stress this enough! It literally saved our marriage and our lives. Please look into this program. I know it seems difficult to make all the arrangements and to have others look after your children while you are gone, but it is so so so worth all the effort. I cannot describe how much this program has done for us. It is intense and much more helpful than marriage counseling (for us anyway). Everything is not fixed in one weekend but after the weekend we KNEW we were committed our marriage and we KNEW we could make it work and flourish.

It took alot of work and time after the weekend with follow up sessions, etc. but we have the marriage we always dreamed of but never thought existed.

We were in a very bad place, maybe worse than you guys are. Very close to divorce with many issues complicating things. My husband was also diagnosed clinically depressed and with adult ADD at the time. The meds and Retrouvaille were our lifeline.

Please seriously consider this program. If you have any questions please let me know.

Retrouvaille would be a great start. Also, you really should look at sex. We women communicate emotionally - men tend to communicate physically.

Also, you may want to look and see if there is a possibility of another woman- 3,7,10 are the worst years for this.

Add the Rosary to your nighttime routine - May the Holy Virgin help you both.

My sister,

I am so sorry to hear about this. I am currently in a not so great place in my marriage (almost 15 with DH) and I just signed up for the Retrouvaille weekend with my DH. I have heard so much about it and I just HAVE to do something. . . we are just floundering and not feeling that connection anymore. I am glad that talking to the priest helped you. I am glad that talking to a priest helped. I read your original post, and read a lot of my own situation in there. My husband has pretty much said that he’s given up. He has agreed to go to counseling, but doesn’t think it can work. Just want you to know that you’re not the only one out there going through something similar.
 
The Lord is merciful and will not reject us forever.
He may bring us sorrow, but His love for us is sure and strong.
