HB 4244, Section 2. Declaration of Policy.

The State recognizes and guarantees the exercise of the universal basic human right to reproductive health by all persons, particularly of parents, couples and women, consistent with their religious convictions, cultural beliefs and the demands of responsible parenthood. Toward this end, there shall be no discrimination against any person on grounds such as sex, age, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities, political affiliation and ethnicity.

Ok, come on, what kind of responses do you think you’re going to get regarding this bill on a Catholic forum?

While you might find some (like me) who might appreciate the bill for the rights of autonomy that it grants women, the Catholic Church wouldn’t be in favor of it. So don’t expect people to not find flaws in the Bill unless they’re lurkers.

BTW, how can people respond about the Bill by just reading a paragraph of it? The whole bill is here: likhaan.org/content/15th-congress-house-bill-4244-full-text-final-consolidated-rh-bill-hb-4244

Is there such a right? Would it be similar to the universal right to breathe unpolluted air? Maybe we need a universal right to drink pure water.

The Declaration recognizes only three, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I guess we have pretty well “killed” all of those, so we need to create more?

Just askin’…

Is there such a right?
Yes, there is such a right. Just because some don’t recognize it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. And just because some take advantage of it, doesn’t mean that good and responsible people shouldn’t have it. It means people shouldn’t take advantage of it.

Since you’re askin’: Our rights don’t end with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We have the right to privacy, we have the right to consent or refuse any type of medical treatment, we have the right to vote, the right to own property and protect that property, the right to choose and practice our own religion. We have many rights.

Don’t all that you have mentioned stem from the three?
