Please post a positive sacred scripture that is worth memorizing

What is your favorite sacred scripture that is worth memorizing?

I have quite a few but will begin the thread with 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you”.

Ill second that-that has been my tagline on my email signature for over a decade.

Note that it doesnt say “tell” him about your worries-heck we have tons of people who will listen to our problems. He says GIVE them to me. Kinda like the difference between someone counseling you on how to handle your debt and someone just going ahead and paying it off!

My personal favorite is Phillipians 4: 4-7 because Im a worry wart

John 11:39: Jesus said “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead [that being Lazarus], said to him, “Lord, he will smell, for he has been dead for four days.”

I love that. That’s me. Martha knew who Jesus was and believed He could raise her brother from the dead still couldn’t get past the daily issues – “Lord, he will smell.”

Matthew 6:34: “Take no thought for tomorrow: for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Your are the salt of the earth. But if the salt hath lost its flavor, with what shall it * be salted? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under foot. [Matt.5]

‘You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill can not be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel but on a stand. Let your light shine so that men might see your good works and give glory to your father in heaven [Matt.5].’

‘Seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things shall be yours. Do not be anxious for tommorrow for tommorrow shall be anxious for itself. Let the days own troubles be sufficient for the day [Matt.6].’

‘but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us [Romans5].’

I haven’t memorized the last passage yet but it is one of my favorites.*

And remember what Jesus said:

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me” - John 10:14

Thank you all - this is a really encouraging thread to read and you’ve helped me with something special so I am going to let you in on it. 🙂

There is a youth from the parish who cuts my grass and memorizes scripture while working - so far he has memorized six scriptures and now you have just contributed to this :clapping:

7 is a special number and so for the 7th Bible verse I am going to just print out this thread and let him select one that he finds has a special meaning to him 👍

PS: These are the six he has memorized so far (and he can recite every one of them): 1 Thess 5:21 & 5:17, Romans 8:28, 1st Tim 4:12, Phillipians 3:20, and Mark 12:30.

Verdana my favourite scripture is this
"“Simon, Simon, Satan you must know has got his wish to sift you all like wheat, But I have prayed for you Simon, that your faith may not fail, and when you have recovered you must strengthen the brothers” (Lk22:31-32)
I like to say it replacing my name in place of Simon, Simon. In fact it gives me great strength to know that Jesus prays for me and encourages me to strenthen others who are feeling weak.
Try saying this scripture replacing your own name. Its a beautiful piece.

For me, 1 Cor 13 and Paul’s description of what Love is. It serves, for me as a very good basis for a good examine of conscience,
