My car was burglarized earlier this week. The only thing that was stolen was my choir bag, which had a Missalette; a binder containing sheet music… and a Gather choir hymnal in it. The binder and sheet music were recovered with some very minor damage, but the bag, hymnal and Missalette are still missing. The hymnal also contained a Miraculous Medal.
I am asking for prayers for the person who stole these items. Often, theft is an act of desperation, by someone who is needy in some way.
I ask for prayers for the thief who may be in need of money or resources to get food or shelter, if that was the cause of the desperation. If the thief stole my bag in the hope that there was something in there that could be sold for money to buy drugs, then may God help that person to get treatment for an addiction. If the theft was a prank done for acceptance within a ‘gang’, may God turn the thief’s heart to God and to Jesus as the thief on the cross turned to Jesus in his final moments.
I ask for prayers for myself, too, that I do not harbor anger or resentment toward the thief for stealing those things and can continue to pray that the thief finds it in ‘their’ heart to do the right thing and turn away from crime.
Finally, I ask for the return of these items.
Holy Mary, pray for us.
St. Anthony, pray for us.
