“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea” (Matthew 18:5-6).

We teachers carry such a heavy burden due to our responsibilities in the lives of God’s wee ones. Sometimes in the middle of a lesson, I will be overcome by sense of being observed by the dozens of guardian angels in the room. It’s terrifying, but such a grace!

Please pray for all of us teachers – that God use the good and fix the bad for the sake of His Love for these children!

I work as a paraeducator (AKA teacher’s aide/helper) and have grown to have a tremendous respect for our teachers. May God bless them abundantly with the necessary graces needed to lead our youth forward in education as they care for not only academic and emotional needs of our students but look after their general well being as well.

You, too, are a teacher, regardless of what label the Human Resources Department gives you. The children don’t usually make the distinctions we are always making.

And God bless you in your work as well!

Prayer for Teachers

Heavenly Father, who promised that all those who instruct others in the ways of holiness will shine as stars for all eternity, fill our hearts and minds with true knowledge and the art of teaching. Give us patience and understanding, justice and prudence, humility and fear of the Lord. Grant us wisdom and charity so that with a pure and holy love of God we ourselves may enjoy all these gifts and impart them to our pupils. Teach our children to be obedient to your laws and docile to your inspirations. Let them be instruments of your peace in their homes, in our land, and in the family of nations as becomes children of the sons of God in the Mystical Body of Christ. May the blessings of your sevenfold Gifts be in all who teach and in all who learn through the Holy Spirit who is the Love of the Father and the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
