Please pray for brother-in-law Rick; having surgery for hernia

Dear Friends in Christ:

Please join me in prayer for Rick, who is undergoing surgery to repair
a hernia. Previous procedures have failed. So he’s going to a specialist
in New York City. He is in his 60s.

Prayer to St. Anthony

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity
for His creatures made you worthy when on earth to possess miraculous
powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready
to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought,
I implore you to pray for the success of Rick’s surgery.

The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so, you are
the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, of whose heart
was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears
of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms. I make
this request in the nameof Jesus Christ, for whom nothing is impossible.

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (Rick). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Rick’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Prayer for the Apprehensive Patient

Christ said to His loved ones: I am with you, fear not, be not anxious. May I, then, be confident that in the trials and crosses of my life that You, O Lord, will be my constant companion. Whenever I cannot stand, You will carry me lovingly in Your arms. May I have no fear of what may happen tomorrow. For the same Eternal Father Who cares for me today will take care of me tomorrow and everyday of my life. You, O Lord, will either shield me from suffering or give me strength to bear it patiently. May I be at peace, then and put aside all useless thoughts, anxieties, and worries.

Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises for Rick. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of Rick Please reach down and surround Rick with supernatural peace and strength and give him the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Protect him from Satan’s lies and discouragement and let his miraculous healing begin. Amen.
