Please pray for Dominican permission for rite to join Angelic Warfare Confraternity

Hi All,

I have been trying to secure permission from the Angelic Warfare Confraternity for my Priest to preform Dominican rites needed for admittance to this secular order. I contacted my busy Priest a few weeks ago and he agreed to perform the rites later this week.

I am on vacation this week and and won’t have another chance to do this till sometime this summer. The Director wrote me back and said that he is not sure who is responsible for extending permission in my area and to check back. I have and have gotten no response.

Please pray that the AWC Director does secure permission for my Priest to do this rite so we can get this done. Please also pray that I accept whatever outcome for this comes my way. I really need the graces that membership provides, but maybe the Lord has other plans, I don’t know.

I consider the AWC an invaluable force in the fight for purity.

As always, I think all of you for your prayers and support.
 
Your profile says you live in Atlanta (I assume this is Atlanta Georgia, although there are other states that have towns named Atlanta).

I checked the website of the Dominican Province of St. Martin de Porres, which covers the American South. According to their site, there are Dominicans staffing the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Atlanta; and the Emory University Catholic Center, also in Atlanta. Have you contacted them? It is preferable, if possible, to be enrolled in the Confraternity by a Dominican priest and have the full ceremony done (as I understand there are some elements such as lighting of candles which are not done by non-Dominican priests who have the faculty).

I am a member of the Confraternity myself, have been for about a year. I highly commend your desire to join the Confraternity. At the same time I must warn you (and maybe you already know this, but just in case) not to expect magical results. For myself, I have found that faithfully reciting the prayers of the Confraternity, and fulfilling the other obligations such as regular reception of the sacraments of penance and the Eucharist, is not enough. Regular fasting and self-denial of various bodily pleasures is also necessary. I have had to seriously cut back on my consumption of sweets, and also on the types of music that I listen to, before I could make progress in chastity.

I will pray that you will be able to be enrolled soon! As you know, each member of a confraternity benefits not only from his/her own prayers and sacrifices, but those of all the other members of the confraternity. So I pray that soon you and I will be benefitting from each other’s participation.
