My Brothers & Sisters:
Please pray for my pastor, Fr. Christopher, who has been ill during the last week with with a combination of allergies (giving him a sore throat w/ a sort of laryngitis/inability to raise & project his voice), and upper respiratory infection with flulike symptoms (most esp. during the past couple of days). The doctors he’s gone to haven’t been able to diagnose or effectively treat the allergies/sore throat/laryngitis during the past year. Fr. Christopher says that he almost never had this problem before moving to L.A. - So, it’s something either in the air here, or it’s from the stress of the move or from dealing with difficulties selling his house in Michigan (also on the prayer list).
This wouldn’t be such a concern except for one thing - Because St. Mary’s is a smaller church (seats about 200), no one has ever seen the need to install a P.A. system… This means that some people sitting in the back of the church can’t hear him.
Placing a P.A. system in the church would be an easy solution except that… The walls of the church leak (church built of lath & plaster ? in 1929 - needs to be re-stuccoed), & the organ needs repair (organ dates from 1930’s), & the congregation totals about 100 regulars = 50 to 80 irregulars.
A P.A. system has been way down on the list of priorities - small churches don’t usually need P.A.'s.

- That Fr. Christopher would recover from this upper respiratory Infection and soon.
- That God would heal Fr. Christopher’s laryngitis so that Fr. Christopher could raise and project his voice.
