Loving God,

A faithful and active member of my parish has shipped out this week to Iraq as a contractor supporting our troops and the Iraqi troops for a year. His name is Jamie and he will not be with his loving family or his parish community for an entire year. We thank you for his commitment to serving our country and helping the Iraqi people’s military become self sufficient. We lift up our intentions for our friend Jamie and his family, that you may shower your mercy and blessings on this family so they remain very close, loving, and live giving to each other during this long time apart. We pray that this family may maintain a strong prayer life and find consolation in serving God’s people during this time when they can not be together. We pray that each member of the family will maintain a strong faith, courage, and hope in You, dear Lord. We ask for your protection and mercy for Jamie as he lives in Iraq in accordance with your Holy and perfect will. We also pray for his wife and children, that they may receive your protection and feel the warmth and consolation of your Holy Spirit during this time without Jamie at home. Lord, we know that you love us unconditionally, and want us to be joyful and positive followers of your Son despite any trials or sufferings that come our way. Please bless this family and help them to follow your plan for their lives, and help all of us to minister to Jamie and to his family during their time apart.

We thank you for your many blessings in our lives, and especially for the opportunity to pray for our dear friends and fellow parishioners.
