How humbling it is to ask for the prayers of others, especially when I don’t even know where to begin.
Without giving too much private information, I am in a very difficult situation right now. I am a new convert, and I believe that the Lord sent the Holy Spirit to lead me to the Catholic church because he knew that I would be facing the most difficult year of my life. I am at a point where I feel so overwhelmed that I am practically paralyzed with fear and sorrow and frustration. The Lord has accompanied me and graced me so much over the past 9 months, but at this point, I think I am going through a dark night of the soul. I have been fervently praying for guidance and getting close to nothing in response. I desperately need answers and/or the faith to just step out and do something in God’s name and trust that all will work out for the best. But, as this involves the actions of another person - one who has generally repaid my love and concern with skepticism and abuse, I am having a difficult time deciding how to respond to this person in the face of his latest attack. Not only that, but the welfare of my children is involved in this matter - and the answer in that respect is not clear either - I don’t know what the best thing for them would be.
I just don’t know what to do. I also am in a very dire financial situation and need work - soon! And my daughter has an illness that needs to be treated, but I am getting nowhere in getting her father’s cooperation in recognizing the problem or approving what I feel is the most appropriate treatment. I have been praying for her for months and have gotten nowhere. I feel like God is testing me or wants something of me that I can’t discern.
Please pray for me and my children - for all of these things and for my faith and strength, as every day is a desperate fight against despondency.
