My marriage has been struggling. And just when I though my husband was growing spiritually. He is talking matters differently. He asked me for his freedom. I shall grant it. But I feel that ugly feeling in the pit of my stomack. I see the Lord around me. But I just can not deal with yet another blow. I want to get through this with all my sanity for my son’s sake.

This morning I struggled terribly…to find the purpose of my life. Since it has been so easy for husband to find his happiness.

All I ask is that the Holy Spirit to fill my heart with the love for life. I want to let my husband go completely so that he can no longer hurt me. Not today or tomorrow. I do not want him anymore…if all he brings is hurt.

Please pray for me!

:signofcross:

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
:angel1:

God bless you & keep you!

Praying that you find peace and strength to get through this rough time.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of thy death. Amen.

In Catholic terms your “purpose in life” is called a vocation. Your vocation is clear: motherhood. Your job is point your son to Jesus, to love your son with the love of God, to show your son the joy and fullness of life that is consistent from being a Child of God.

Unite yourself to Christ in His passion during this time. Keep your friends and vamily close by through phone calls, get togethers, etc. You are not alone, and this life and its sufferings are so short – and you are in our prayers.

Know that you will be held up in our prayers.

Gertie (a single mom who’s been there)

Praying very hard for you to find peace of mind and happiness!

I feel I have been praying for the same thing over and over again! I do not want to disobey the Lord. I am trying to live a holy life. Only my fear is that I may die the biggest sinner…becuase I have given up on the marriage vowels. I want to make sure with the Lord that is is ok to end our marriage. Please help that I hear his voice of approval.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Prayers and Intercessions

Today the Eternal Father announced our salvation to Mary through the message of his angel. With trusting souls let us pray:
– Lord, give us the gift of your grace.

You chose the Virgin Mary to be the mother of your Son:
take pity on all who are awaiting their redemption.
– Lord, give us the gift of your grace.

You announced peace and joy to Mary through the mouth of the angel Gabriel:
give the entire world true peace and the joy of salvation.
– Lord, give us the gift of your grace.

You caused your Word to live among us, by the consent of your handmaiden and the power of the Holy Spirit:
incline our hearts to receive Christ just as the Virgin Mary received him.
– Lord, give us the gift of your grace.

You look with kindness on the lowly and fill the hungry with good things:
raise up those who are cast down, help those in need, be a support for the dying.
– Lord, give us the gift of your grace.

God, you alone work miracles and to you nothing is impossible:
give us salvation when you raise the dead on the last day.
– Lord, give us the gift of your grace.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

O God, you willed that your Word should take on true human flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary.
Grant, we pray you,
that as we proclaim our Redeemer to be man and also our God,
we may deserve to share in his divine nature.
He lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

In truth, He may not be giving you His approval. You need to discern this through prayer, and through conversations with a priest or deacon. I gave in to my ex-husband’s request for a divorce because I had just returned to the Church, and he and I were only married civilly, so in the eyes of the Church we were never married in the first place. It was still very, very painful. Looking back, I think I might have benefitted from fighting for my marriage a little more (while remaining celibate!), rather than just giving in.

Divorce is allowed in the Church under certain circumstances, but remarriage is not, unless and until your marriage is declared null. Again, you need to discuss this with a priest or deacon from your parish.

You won’t die the biggest sinner. I believe I have that honor – but where there is awareness of sin, there is an opening for the power of God’s grace.

Now set up an appointment to talk with a priest or deacon from your parish 🙂

Still praying for you, dear one.

Gertie

Just how would you go about fighting for your marriage? In most states, he doesn’t need much in the way of legal grounds for divorce - you pretty much cannot stop it. Is there something you can do in a more personal way? What would that be?

If indeed you have a valid marriage in the eyes of the church, then you must continue to at least be prepared to uphold your marriage vows. You cannot prevent your husband from leaving, but you should remain celibate and prepared to receive him again should he return. Right now your main focus has to be your son. Let him see you living a good, holy life. Fight for whatever legal rilghts you have to child support, custody, etc., whatever is in his best interests. You are your son’s legal advocate now. Your son does not need to see is mother out dating other men, going nightclubbing, etc. Don’t smother or spoil him, but raise him up in a solid, stable environment where he knows he is the most important person in your life. Keep praying for your husband’s conversion. It may not come in time to salvage your marriage, but pray it comes in time to save his soul. Maybe consider these your two primary vocations: raising your son and praying for your husband. If you work, you can also find your vocation in your work. Be a good Christian witness at work. Our lives all have meaning in what we do every single day, the people who come into our life, the good works we do, and our prayer life. Don’t despair - trust in God’s promise to bring good out of this situation, if you cooperate with His plan for your life.

Thank you so much for your support.

I am trying to be good mom. I want him to see a happy mom, not a sad mom. In the past I neglected him…becuase I would just focus on my hurt. I do not want that for him anymore.

I am starting to feel…everyone is better off with out me. My husband says I just pile on the guilt on him. And my son wants to be friends with my husbands x-lover (has had an affair). So who wants mom??? No one.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.

Lord,
I beg to you!!! Please hold me up. I can not believe I am feeling this way again. I just want your peace in my heart. Grant me that peace. I will let go of the situation!!! Just give me the grace to get through this with love!

Love!

Erazo,

I am going to remember your intentions in my rosary prayers tonight. I pray that Jesus lifts your spirit up. Trust in His Mercy!

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit Of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen

Let Go, Let God
I let go and let God work wonders in my life.
I may at times feel burdened by a perceived injustice on the part of others or even by a mistake I myself have made.
When I let go and let God, however, a transformation takes place. Any pain or disappointment is transformed into growth and understanding.
I release any tendency to be controlling or to be controlled, knowing that God is in charge. By letting go of my inflexible plan, I am guided by God to new discovery. In letting go of an unhealthy habit, I am strengthened and renewed.
As I let go of attitudes or beliefs that may have been holding me back from my highest good, I am opening the way for unimagined peace and joy to unfold.

“I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation.”—Isaiah 12:2

Lord just come to my aid.

Erazo, don’t think crazy thoughts. You mean the world to your son. It may seem like he likes this ex-girlfriend, but that doesn’t mean he prefers her to his own mom. You are the center of his life, and without you he would be devastated and lost. Without you, who would be there to guide him and show him the way to heaven? If you are contemplating suicide or somehow disappearing from your son’s life, you are wrong, wrong, wrong. That is your depression talking. You need help for that. Either see a doctor for some medication, or if you want there are things you can try from the health food store. But get your depression treated, and you will find so much more energy to devote to your son and also to yourself.

You have to give yourself the gift of time to heal. The healing will come, but you have to be patient and not expect it tomorrow. Focus on each day, and decide that you will give each day to God and ask Him what He wants of you that day. Being a Christian means service to others. That is a great way to get past feeling sorry for yourself. Get involved with a Christian service organization. You will make friends and find emotional support. And the adrenaline that comes from helping others will be so good for you. And get some exercise. Don’t let yourself mope around any longer. There is a wonderful world out there. Go commune with nature. Take your son for a nice walk, a picnic, a day at the beach, anything outside.

Despair is a sin - God admonishes us not to despair. He says He will take care of us, so you are obligated to take Him at His word.

jacie,
Thank you so much!!! I really needed that. Sometimes I feel that the Lord is saying “Not again!!!” “Didn’t we deal with this last year!”

You are right…those crazy thoughts have crossed my mind…but who will be there for my son. Dad?? Well he seems to be clueless. I just hope…that the Lord hears my cry…and continues to send me signs of love. I have gotten two so far…from unexpected people!!!

Thank you so much…keep me in your prayers. And when I am well enough I will pray for you all!!

Exactly! Good girl - I know you can get through this. You have a good head on your shoulders, and you need to use it. Don/t let the devil of despair gain any more inroads. Your husband is the one lost in sin - if you can’t be his faithful wife, you can at least pray for him faithfully, and forgive him. Your forgiveness will go a long way for him. When you feel overwhelmed, picture yourself throwing yourself at the feet of Christ on the cross, and joining your sufferings to His. This is our Christian walk with Jesus - offering up our sorrows and hardships to Him for the conversion of sinners. But if you feel overwhelmed by your feelings, don’t hesitate to get medical help. It is not a failure to need an anti-depressant for a little while to get over the hump. Thank God for medical science. You are in my prayers.
