Please pray for me - I didn't receive any Christmas presents

I’m feeling absolutely devastated that I didn’t get anything for Christmas. What I asked for wasn’t even a thing that I wanted it was a need and waking up this morning to see nothing under the tree was a very hard thing to do. Please pray for me, I’m extremely depressed. I’m probably just going to sit in my room all day.
 
Blessed Mother, please intercede for us.
Hold the sorrowful-
Mother and love the weary, abused, neglected
or forgotten among us-
Give your aid to all needing help or healing-
Assist those who are sick, in pain or suffering-
Be with those needing peace-
Console the lonely or brokenhearted-
Comfort the lost or hopeless-
Strengthen the fearful-
Guard the unborn-
Pray for those who are dying or who have died-
Soften those with hardened hearts-
Enlighten those who do not yet see truth-
Help us be brave enough to let our hurt and anger go-

Focus on what the true meaning of Christmas is about and what you are thankful
for.
I felt guilty receiving the few gifts I got because I don’t have the money to buy for
everyone. I would have felt better if I had not received anything actually.

Your mother gave you a new pair of shoes - which you didn’t want - but it was still a gift.

I didn’t get any presents except the gift of my son visiting. He hasn’t been home for almost a year as he’s going to school 400 miles away. Our daughter & her husband - who live 2000 miles away - will be visiting for a few days in January. So that’s a present I’ve yet to “unwrap.” 😉

Family is a great gift - don’t disparage it.

Another prayer - one of my favorites:

I had seen that thread and thought you had taken the wise advice from multiple people here. Do as Pianistclare tells you. You are very blessed that your Parents care enough to teach you correctly.

Praying that Our Lord will heal your Parents’ hearts and give them wisdom, discernment, and love to guide you during the time you live at their home. May Our Lord give you docility to learn from your Parents.
 
This happened to me a few years ago and my thoughts and prayers are with you!

I was humbly going to take the shoes but my mom told me to go to my dad and he didn’t really care. He said he doesn’t have a lot of money and I’d liked to mention he stole $10000 from my brother and had no regret. He was like alright we’ll get it done don’t worry when I asked him for the credit card to get the shoes which really means “Go away and I hope you don’t come pester me again.” It’s extremely hard too because since my father isn’t working and will not work. He’s a well educated with a degree in medicine and engineering but pride got into him and he hasn’t worked for 20 years and will not at all. Meanwhile my mom works as a manager at a grocery store and works another job after that. I tried giving the man a chance for the last year but he’s a lost cause.

You did get a gift. It is the gift of life. Maybe it didn’t come wrapped in fancy paper with a bow on top, but is a pretty special gift. You just didn’t recognize it because you are seeking the material rather than the spiritual. I think you are young yet and just don’t know how special your gift is. Every day that you wake up and take a breath is a treasure not to be found under a tree. I do feel for you and understand your sense of deprivement, but what the heck…tomorrow is another day and the season of giving isn’t over yet. I have a question for you: What did you give? Peace and prayers P. S. I wanted a spell checker, but didn’t get one. Sigh…🤷

No one is a lost cause. Pray for your father and esp. for your mother. Sounds like she carries a heavy load. Peace.
 
At times, if I didn’t get a present, I felt unloved because of my expectations. Now, I focus on giving. If I get something, fine, if not, fine. I have lowered my expectations from others.

I also live in Mexico, and many of the people can’t afford to give, anyway. If they give, it’s often a simple bar of regular soap or something small like that a couple of candies.

Feeling unloved, though, is the worst feeling in the world. It’s really a form of poverty. I think your thread is really, deep down, that you don’t feel loved by your family. So yes, I’ll pray for you.

I hope things will turn around, but maybe it’s best not to expect much given your family. I live alone and have cultivated friendships which help make up for what is sometimes lacking in my family.
