Good night Chaz,

I’ll log off soon and pray a rosary for you if I’m not to tired after doing the dishes.

Take care of yourself,

CARose

Hello, Corey, I will be praying for you!
I think like others have said that it may be time to back off from the debates & to pray for these folks instead for a while. It can be very draining, esp. when they may be very skilled in debate. You have done something that a lot of people could not, or would not do, so don’t feel bad about letting up on it.
You have planted some seeds in their minds. That is the best that you can hope for at this point.
God bless.

Something that I have realized, or rather found out, is that by the atheist’s disproving God’s existence, then he inadvertently admits to His existence. To disprove one’s existence, you must first have to acknowledge it existed, then try to disprove it using logic. I don’t know how that exactly works (perhaps those who are more into Philosophy can answer that). I’ll have to ask that the Ask An Apologist forum to have it straightened out, but that is how I see it.

As a Nintendo fanboy, it is my duty to say, its *Super Smash Brothers, if its for the Nintendo 64, and Super Smash Brothers Melee *if its for the Gamecube. Sorry, but I signed an oath of unwavering loyalty to Nintendo when I first picked up a controller when I was 4.

Proud to serve, proud to play.

Now back to your regularly sceduled programming.
Opps. I drive my kids crazy because I can never get those titles correct! It’s actually the one for Gamecube. My 3 year old loves it like crazy. How he can manuver to different levels but has not mastered the potty chair yet is beyond me! 😉

Goodnight everybody. I am too tired to pray a roasry, so i will tommorrow. God Bless all of you. :angel1:
Here’s a nice thought that helped me when talking to an athiest.

If they’re right, and there is no God and therefore no life after death, then, when we both die, nothing will happen. We’ll have lived a happy life believing in a beautiful savior and miraculous blessings, they’ll have live a life completely without any grace, and, in the end, neither of us will ever know who was right because *nothing *will happen. We’ll both just die, that’s it.

On the other hand, if WE’RE right, when we both die, one of us will get to spend eternity in absolute paradise…and one of us will get to spend eternity trying to figure out just where his arguments went wrong:)

Stay strong, Jesus always prevails. Don’t try to think about it too much on your own, let God bring you back to Him.

God bless,
In Him,
Britty

Wow! Excellent! Best advice ever! 👍

I grew up reading super hero comic books. The good always prevailed. I believed it.

Then, in seventh grade, I got in my first real fight. The eighth-grade bully who assaulted me won the fight. It was very disillusioning.

The fact that an atheist can whip the snot out of you has nothing to do with truth. It just means that he’s a better debater. That’s the case in nearly all debates.

I’ve seen “nature” programs on TV where deeply disturbed people hunt rattlesnakes, grab them with tools, and put them in bags for some reason or other. If you want to do this, more power to ya; but don’t “learn by doing.” Get the necessary training, then interact with the rattlesnakes.

Corey - I tend to load my rosary with all kinds of intentions - and you will be 1 of them. Also, have you made your Confirmation yet? Good graces and strength in that sacrament. You have the makings of a fine Catholic apologist I’m thinking - wrestling with the devil of doubt will make you stronger in the long run. Frequent reception of the sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist are great weapons and armor also.

Thank you both. My name is Corey if any one wants to say a roasary for me, it would really make me happy. Know that if you did then you helped a teen boy recover his faith.
Just pray.

If you pray and doubts enters into your mind just continue praying GOD will understand you.

Read some catholic books especially those books that pertains to the history of our church. Avoid reading and listening articles that attack the existence of GOD.

The devil is attacking the innocent mind of young people. The devil knew that you will be a good son of God and at this early age he is preventing you from believing in GOD.

Me too was attacked by devil regarding my faith. He attacked me while i was praying in front of the Eucharist. What i did was to pray and ask for forgiveness that i have doubted the prescence of Jesus in that eucharist.

I just prayed and prayed and prayed…

Let me pray for you…

I have been debating with many atheists on another website, and they have been easily discrediting everything I have said for proof there is a God. I have looked into darwin’s writings and evidences for evolution and have looked at things dissaproving miracles, “proof” Jesus never existed, and things regarding the “true origin” of the Bible. I am starting to question my beleifs, and am slowly turning agnostic. I do not want to tstop beleieving in Jesus, I do not want to stop beleiving in God, but for some reason I just am starting to drift away no matter how much i do to strengthen my faith. I would like to ask you all to pray for me that my faith in God made be strengthend. Also, if you can find anything that would strengthen my faith, please do.

Corey,

Many of us have been there. My faith was in question for quite a few years, but I promised not to leave it if I hadn’t first read & prayed about it & not from antiCatholic sources. After I felt I had a better understanding of my faith through researching Catholic (imprimatur) sources, I reread the other. I am a stronger Catholic because of the struggle.

**Remember, that many people question their faith; then they finally embrace Catholicism after much prayer & research. It is at this point that it becomes their faith not someone elses.

I will pray for you.**

Albert Einstein said “Religion without Science is lame, Science without religion is blind”.

The two temper each other. You would not eat pure butter straight off the stick (Science alone), neither would you eat raw sugar straight out of the bag (Religion alone), but when you mix the two together you get a great batch of Cookies.

So for all their scientific evidence, I would ask them to provide definitive sources, or simply stop arguing with them, since it’s obvious they aren’t listening anyway and dragging you down in the process.

God Bless.

Don’t believe that they are “easily discrediting” you. I’m debating with athiests right now as well and I’m sure to someone reading our debate it looks as if they “discredit” all my claims in their posts…until I reply, that is.😃 Anything I post about miracles or demonic possession (which would prove the existance of God by proving the existance of the devil) are answered with things like “well…that’s probably a hoax” or “just because there’s no scientific explanation doesn’t mean it’s true”. And that, my friend, is called avoiding the question. My guess is that these athiests of yours do the same thing, am I right?

Let me point out to you that Darwin himself was a Christian and evolution in no way disproves God…it simply offers us a possible way of how he created the world (to a certain extent; I am still hesitant to believe He created us from apes).
I have never in my life seen any scientific evidence “disproving” miracles. In fact, it is exactly the opposite. There simply are no explanations for miracles; scientific analyises are inconclusive for the most part. Read about Eucharistic Miracles and the tests done on those that prove in the Real Presence of Jesus.
There is no proof that Jesus never existed. Whoever says that is a liar and should be discredited. Josephus and Tacitus make reference to Jesus in their writings and almost all historians are in agreement at least that there was a man named Jesus and that he was crucified at the order of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem.

“The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” The same holds for God–the devil is trying to convince us He doesn’t exist. But remember that “the gates of hell shall never prevail against [the Church]”. Pray to God every day and keep your eyes open for signs from Him. Know when and how to recognize them…I have (in fact, I recieved something last night that could not have been anything other than a sign from God) and it’s great to know that He’s with you and He cares for you.
And remember this: even Thomas doubted Our Lord, even Peter denied him. Even Judas turned away from him. C.S. Lewis went for much of his life not believing in him. No matter what your struggles are, you’re not alone.

In Christ,
Rand

P.S. Read The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis…I bet you that you’ll realize what’s being done to you, and who’s doing it.

Thanks for all of your concern. Yes I saw that website existence-of-god.com/existence-of-god.html and it really helped me I must say. I couldn’t resist coming back to that section of that website i was debating on and post that. After I said I would stop debating the existance of God. Oh well, the drama queen/king never leaves without an encore… LOL! I now am more confident in my beleif in God. much more confident. While i was praying “Lord, I belive help my unbeleif.”. I felt a great wave of love wash over me… a “burning in the bossom” thing. I know that Jesus isnt going to let me go soon, but unfortunatly satan still wants to drag me to hell with him. I have no intention of going! God Bless all of you. 🙂

All you need is to read up on the Catholic miracles and the lives of the saints or better yet visit one of more of the Catholic miracle sites. Here’s a brief list:

In Mexico City, the cloak of St. Juan Diego with the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

In Nevers, France is the incorrupt body of St. Bernedette. In Paris is the incorrupt body of St Catherine, In Casia Italy is the incorrupt body of St Rita and the Eucharistic miracle of Casia (both from the 1500), In Bologna is the incorrupt body of another saint Catherine.

There are several sites of Eucharistic miracles (at least 4 or more) -where the bread and wine actually turned in to the Body and Blood of Jesus (all have the same blood type). In Akita Japan, the host actually turned into a beating human heart (no longer beating - but it is still there).

Also, you may want to read about some of the saints, my favorites are the miracle workers, St Anthony of Padua, Padre Pio, Blessed Martin de Porres, St Catherine Labore, and St Catherine of Sienna… if you really feel insecure, get a Miraculous Medal and have it blessed and keep it with you,. There are a whole slew of miracles and conversions associated with the medal.

Challenge your atheist friends to the one year medal derby. They can not keep the medal with them for one year and not be converted. They are all afraid to take it, because it really works.

Yes that also helped me. especially the miracle of loudres. I an wondering what is the One year medal derby? Im interested.

Peace be with you!

I don’t really have a “favorite” miracle, persay, but I do like referring people to La Virgin de Guadalupe. Did you realize that the image of Juan Diego appears in Mary’s eyes, just as it does when a photograph (an actual image of a real person, mind you) is taken? That would be one hell of a forgery considering people had ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE of that magnitude about the human eyes for centuries to come. And Juan Diego can be seen in Our Lady’s eyes. Amazing!

In Christ,
Rand

The story goes that after the medal was issued, someone had an atheist friend who was very skeptical. The friend convinced the atheist to carry the medal with him for one year. Before the end of that year his friend converted.

And the conversion miracle has been repeated many times over. Our Lady promises to help. So my thing is to challenge true atheists to keep the medal for a year and if he/she does not convert after a year, they win the converison derby. I haven’t decided what they would win yet…😃

My favorite miracle by far, is St Anthony’s saving a construction worker.

St Anthony was ordered by his superior not to perform any more miracles. People were coming from near and far to visit him, and they were becoming a nuisance.

A worker on high scaffording lost his balance and began to fall, and called out to St Anthony to save him. St. Anthony stopped him in mid air and ran off to ask his superior if he could continue. The superior gave his okay, and St. Anthony let the worker down softly to the ground.
Imagine how the worker felt as he was dangling in mid air… what if the superior said, NO ??? :hmmm:

Another ST Anthony miracle (I posted this else where but I don’t remember where)…

he met some protestant folks who were skeptical about the real presence of the Holy Eucharist. So he challenged the owner of a mule (or donkey) to let the animal go hungry for 3 days, and after 3 days the owner would offer the animal a handful of feed while St Anthony held the Eusharist. When released the animal went over to St Anthony and knelt in front of the Eucharist in adoration totally ignoring the feed. He got several conversions as a result of this demonstration.
St Anthony was quite a miracle worker, and was a very eloquent speaker.
