In the last two weeks, in the Church Notices at my local Church, they were asking for me Readers and I was compelled to offer my ability for serving as a reader during Mass.
This morning, I received a message from the Priest saying that he preferred me not to do the readings during Mass as he was worried about me getting to the Lectern. I did then meet him afterwards and he knows that I’ve been reading at a Methodist Church for over 3 years without any problems, before I became a Full Catholic. The Priest informed me that I could serve in other ways, but I know the Spirit is calling me to serve as a Reader during mass. He has heard me reading in the past, as I have sent him recordings and he does know that I can get to the Lectern in the Methodist Church which is actually tricker than the Catholic Church.

Please pray for me to be able to serve as a Reader during Mass.

Thank you

Lucy

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Praying for your intentions. Just relax & be yourself when you Lector. If your Parish has one; use & review the Lectionary Guide for the correct pronounciations & inflections.

Good luck! Just remember to move the book after! Our church only has an ambo, so the Lector has to move the book out of the way so the celebrant priest can put down the book of scripture!

Our Father…Hail Mary x10
Glory Be…Fatima Prayer…Amen!

Praying for your intention. Praying for the Lord’s will to be done.

Praying for you. Don’t forget to speak up. When I was called to lector, I was so nervous. I am a naturally, quiet and soft-spoken person, but with added nerves on my first day, I was barely heard…even with the microphone very close to my mouth.
Good luck and enjoy the experience.

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins my Mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of thy Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer me.
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee;
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Prayer to St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

St. Teresa of Calcutta, you allowed the thirsting love of Jesus on the Cross to become a living flame within you, and so became the light of His love to all. Obtain from the Heart of Jesus for Lucy to become a Reader, if that is God’s will. Teach me to allow Jesus to penetrate and possess my whole being so completely that my life, too, may radiate His light and love to others.
Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of Our Joy, pray for me.
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for me.

Thank you for your prayers. I don’t have a problem getting to the Lectern, but the Priest at my local Cstholic Church is currently adamant that I can"t read in Church as he is worried about me being able to get the Lectern safely. He shouldn’t be worried ad he does know that I was a reader in the previous Church where the step to the Lectern is more dangerous. He knows that I m a confident reader and that I don’t have any problems with the actual readings as he has had several recordings from me. The only thing that is stopping me to Serve as a reader, is hus worry about getting to the Lectern safely.

Please continue to pray for me to be able to serve as a reader.

Thank you.

Lucy

Praying, in Jesus’ name, that if it be God’s will, you be permitted to become a reader, and if it is somehow not God’s will, that he point the way to a resolution of the situation that works for everybody. Amen.
