It’s just that I’m 50 years old. I have to lift and pull 2-300 pounds of dead weight all day. I hate being in charge. I just want to take care of my patients to the best of my ability without the interruptions of staffing and dealing with other employee’s attitudes.
nodding I hear you there - nursing is a brutal job, and it’s got to be difficult to stay compassionate and helpful when a lot of politics and foolishness are getting in the way! :hug3:
That’s why I totally agreed with what you said about people feeling that they are entitled to anything they want when they want it. And why can’t we all work together to get a job done.
wry grin Yeah, you’re in
exactly the sort of environment that would foster what I was griping about.
Everyone expects me to help and I don’t mind, but what about helping me sometimes.
EXACTLY!
Oh waawaawaa! Sorry to be a crybaby!
No, you’re not a crybaby at all! I don’t
know you well, of course, but you really come across as someone that wouldn’t have mentioned a word about this unless it had become very, very bad indeed.
I’m just tired, over worked, and not as young as I used to be (even tho my mind says I’m still 25-30 years old)
Amazing how the body begs to differ way before the brain does, isn’t it?
I badly wanted to be a nurse when I was 19, because I wanted to help people … so I went to volunteer, and instead of putting me in the pediatric ward (as I wanted), they put me in the orthopedic ward instead - which, at the time, was handling the overflow from other wards, mostly terminally-ill or geriatric or psychiatric patients. Bless them for doing that, because it made me realize I am
not fit material for nursing… I spent as much time crying (when I got home) as I did helping out. I don’t have what it takes to handle the emotional demands of nursing (let alone the physical demands!), and I am in awe of those that manage it and retain their compassion.
HUG
Bless you for the work you do, and for having the wisdom to realize when you need to take care of
yourself before you can continue to take care of others!
And you are NOT being crabby!!!
laughing You are such a sweetheart - thank you! :hug3:
