I feel selfish posting a thread on here asking for prayers for myself, and I apologize in doing so.

Being a military wife is very hard during the holidays. I was raised in a great, big, loving, Catholic family. We all used to get together on the holidays and celebrate. They were the happiest memories of my not-always-so-happy childhood. Now, my dh and I don’t have the financial means to go home for the holidays. I spent Thanksgiving and Christmas alone last year because dh was not at home for a few months. My grandmother and I are very close, and I spent most of both days crying on the phone with her. I felt forgotten. I’ve noticed that since I’m expecting the same this holiday season that I’ve become very distant and moody. Please everyone, pray that God will send me His grace to get through another lonely holiday season with a smile on my face just like everything else. I can handle quite a lot of things, but being away from my family hits me where it really hurts. 😦

It’s not selfish, we all need prayers for ourselves sometimes, so will pray for you.:signofcross: :hug1:

I pray the Lord send you some very good friends to be with for the holidays, and you are not alone in the flesh, as you are not alone in the spirit.

May the Lord comfort you and guide you, and may He station His angels about you and your hubby and his unit.

Believe me, I understand. For virtually all (33 years) of our married life, we have lived about 1500 miles (3 days’ drive) from our families, and dh is in a business that has precluded traveling for Thanksgiving, especially. It is the only big regret and sadness I have, as I have been blessed with a great husband and children. I’ll be praying for you.

In the meantime, get involved helping folks less fortunate than yourself, through your church, etc. You’ll likely make new friends and will be doing something very worthwhile, as well. Also, invite over some other folks who might be in the same boat - there are always other families or singles (in the military, especially) who are far from home, as well.

Blessings!

I will keep you in prayers also. I am sure there is a family who invites those who have no family near them or friends. I will pray that the Lord will allow you two to meet. I never thought there were people like that until my dh introduced me to a family that literally invites all there friends and those they just met. In fact, the have a young girl living with them who was planning an abortion. They took her in prior to the babies birth and helped with giving up the baby for adoption. They still allow her to live with them until she can get on her feet and live alone. This family always has so many around the holidays. That is how they are and it is a blessing to see. They took in my dh also and that is how I met them after I married him. They are witnesses of Christ in opening their door to strangers in a world that most of us are afraid to do this.

I will pray also for the gift of being able to go see your family in case the Lord wishes to make it possible.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary

Oh, dear, you very much need prayers. I am so sorry.

I will pray for God to show you a way to be with family…even if it’s your Church family.

Blessed Mother, please intercede for this young wife.
