Please pray for my 15 year old daughter, M, who says she no longer wants to be Catholic, doesn’t believe in God, is angry with me for forcing her to attend church, and plans never to go back to church once she turns 18.
I believe this is a stage she is going through, but it is a dangerous one. Please ask our Lord to have mercy on her, give her the gift of faith, and draw her close to Him, and to give me wisdom in dealing with her.
Thank you for your prayers.

*Dear Lord Jesus Christ, please be with this Mother and daughter during these times.

Lord please love this daughter even though she is turning away from you and intends to stay away from you and the church

Lord you respect the freedom of your creatures ,if she chooses to turn away from you ,Protect her wherever she goes and watch over her during her life and let her learn and come to the knowledge of your goodness and peace ,and of the love that you have for her ,and all of us who are made in your image and likeness

Lord have mercy
Lord hear us
Amen*

Have you ever heard of adolescents?
Did you think that that happens only to others?
To deal with a teenager is a full time job !!!
Either they are in hell or in heaven, either they see the life rose or pitch black, either they love till the end of the world or they want to kill you.
They change humor like a floating balloon in the rough sea waters.
To take seriously a promise of a teen that at 18 she is not going to mass is the same to take seriously the promise of a drunken man that the is not going to drink any more. In the next 67 minutes and 53 seconds she has already forgotten what she said.
Please read a book about teens.
Or better, learn how to swim in rough seas: it is a good experience to know how to deal with them.
Or learn theater: learn how to laugh and the next second, shout, and the next secon cry and the next second shout again, and embrace, and kiss, and hate and punish and love and embrace.
You cannot win them. Join them…

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

I am keeping your daughter and your family in my prayers.

Lord, please have mercy on Viki’s daughter, grant her the gift of faith, draw he close to Your Sacred Heart, and grant wisdom to Viki in dealing with her. Please convert Viki’s daughter’s heart and help her to seek and find You. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer.

Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kindgom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliever us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Thank you, I know this well. I have read a ton of books about teens and belong to a parent support group. But I still believe that prayer is the best weapon we have, and I take her comments seriously because I have 2 grown sons who don’t set foot in church. This is the thread for prayers, not advice. You are certainly correct, but St Monica didn’t gain her son’s salvation by book knowledge or ignoring him, but with tears and prayers.
I greatly appreciate everyone’s prayer intervention.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Lord, please convert this young woman’s heart.

I have prayed for your daughter already but as for myself, we must do something besides prayer. I doubt that St. Monica did not do anything for her son.
I would have something to say about your sons but, as you do need advice, I take your remark.

I will pray for your daughter.

I wonder, have you engaged her with regards her reasons for not wanting to be Catholic?

My son behaved similarly at that age. Now he is regular for Sunday mass and even goes for mass on week days sometimes. He regularly discusses the day’s readings with me. Just trust in the Lord and keep praying. Remember our Lord’s assertion:
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10:27-29)
