For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (Convert in 99), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

God will never abandon you. He made you. He wants you to trust Him and call on Him for your needs. He loves you. We endure many trials, but he also gives us the strength to conquer these difficulties. I will be praying for you.

I’m having a really bad trial still. I am to the point where I don’t like my faith anymore. I do the absolute minimum required. I feel the weight of an angry God who’s out to punish me for my many sins, and even so I probably still won’t be “good enough” to make it to purgatory let alone heaven. I fear constantly for my husband’s salvation since he is Protestant, as well as my own family since they are Protestant too.

I’m having a really bad trial still. I am to the point where I don’t like my faith anymore.** Perhaps it would help if you could separate your faith from the pain you are constantly experiencing. To see them as “together” is to compare apples with oranges. Your faith is a choice you made as a result of certain faith decisions. Just because your perception of your faith has changed, doesn’t necessarily mean that your faith itself has changed.

I do the absolute minimum required.
I understand that! If I were living and walking in the level of pain that you are I would also be doing the minimum; physically for sure!

I feel the weight of an angry God who’s out to punish me for my many sins, In your quieter moments I hope you know that sentence is wrong. First of all, God is not angry at us for suffering. And to to think He is, does Him an injustice. As to being “out to punish me for my many sins,” God doesn’t work like that. God convicts us of our sins and that has nothing to do with running us down to punish us. To “convict” us is to show us our error and along with that is the urging to repent and ask forgiveness for our sins. He makes me want to confess, He draws me closer to speak to my spirit. He never, never runs us down as with dogs chasing a squirrel!

and even so I probably still won’t be “good enough” to make it to purgatory let alone heaven. I don’t believe that you believe what you wrote here. You are hurt & angry with God and your situation; and it looks pretty hopeless right now, but God never gives up on us as long as we are on this earth! He went to the cross for us, experienced indescribable suffering and death. What more can a loving Father do than what He has already done?

I fear constantly for my husband’s salvation since he is Protestant, as well as my own family since they are Protestant too. My family is also protestant and staunchly so. They were horrified when I made the change to Catholicism but I knew I had come home. No one’s prayers are more valuable than yours when it comes to your husband and your family, so never give up praying for them!
I don’t know why you are suffering so greatly. If I could take some of it and spare you even a little of it, I would certainly try to do it! But as of this moment, the only thing I know to do is to pray a daily rosary for your needs and to pray that all of the combined prayers on this thread will touch the heart of God on your behalf! In the meantime, please take our hands and let us all stand with you before the God of Heaven and beg for His Mercy! If I can cooperate with another on this list, with a certain prayer, with fasting, whatever the people on this list want to do, I will gladly shoulder it on your behalf.
