Please pray for my friend

One of my friends has been suffering severe depression and a couple of weeks ago attempted suicide.

She’s doing a little better and is being looked after by her family, but she needs help and doesn’t know what or where to get it. I am also feeling very helpless to know how to help her - as are others who care .about her.

Please pray for my friend and for those of us who care about her.

O Lord, Holy Father, omnipotent and eternal God, I give You thanks and I bless Your holy name. I know I’m a poor miserable sinner but hear a cause that is just, turn your ear to my prayer. Amen

Jesus please let her become so overwhelmed by the love and kindness of family, friends, health-carers, that she begins to realize how very precious and beautiful she is and is able to face self and life with hope, faith, and love.
Please guide her to the genuine help that she needs to recover, and to welcome life.
Jesus please give her experience of Your great love for her.

***Lord, God, Who have graciously chosen St. Dymphna to be the patroness of those afflicted with mental and nervous disorders, and have caused her to an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who invoke her intercession, grant, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all who suffer from theses disturbances, and especially to those for whom we pray.

We beg You to accept and to satisfy the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant to those we have particularly recommended patience, in their sufferings and resignation to Your Divine Will. Fill them with hope and, if it be in accord with You Divine Plan, bestow upon them the cure they so earnestly desire. Through Christ, our Lord, Amen.***
 
Lord, please send your Holy Spirit to Lightbee’s friend and heal her of her grief and depression. May her family and friends shower her with love and spend extra time with her. May everyone involved in this crisis turn to you for strength and for the great love they need to help Lightbee’s friend in her need. Watch over Lightbee’s friend and please allow her to experience you in an intimate, most special way. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

God, grant Lightbee’s friend the courage to change the things she can change,
the serenity to accept those she cannot change,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
But God, grant her the courage not to give up on what you think is right,
even though she think it is hopeless.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we understand that thy sixth commandment, “Thou shalt do no murder,” includes self murder. But in thy divine mercy, we beg thy forgiveness especially for Lightbee’s friend who attempted suicide, who have been so confounded by the pressures of this life that they felt there was no way they could continue. Grant, we beseech thee, that they be forgiven their terrible sin and that they may come to understand thy ways and thy nature. We ask this in Jesus Christ’s name.

Thank you all for your prayers. My friend is doing a lot better, though it’s involved some hard choices. The exciting thing is she came to mass with me last week - first time in years for her - and is even talking about getting confirmed etc. Praise be to God!

I expect there is still a lot of healing to go in her life yet. But i am sure all your prayers have made a difference. Thank you.
