Please pray that God will open both me and my husband’s hearts and mind’s to emotionally connect with each other and talk to each other on an emotional level. Please pray that we both go to the weekend with open minds and softend hearts towards one another.

God bless you for thinking and praying for us. Thank God for all his blessings on my marriage and relationship.

You will be in my prayers! God bless you and your husband for taking this important step!

Will keep you in my prayers as you take this excellent step. May Our Lord be with you at Retroueville and every step of the way always, and may Our Blessed Mother help intercede also!
God bless you both.

Praying that you both give 100% to this experience. It is a lot of work and often difficult, but those who facilitate the Weekend and Post Weekend Sessions are just like you…they struggle too. The only difference is that they have learned skills for open, honest and respectful communication thus making them capable of moving past their misery. I urge you to NOT give up, give this experience EVERYTHING YOU’VE GOT. And please keep us posted during your three-month journey toward forgiveness and reconciliation in your marriage. St. Joseph, patron saint of Retrouvaille, hear our prayer!

I’ll remember you in my prayers, Rosary Girl. I wish I were in your shoes… my wife has abandoned her vows, and even Retrouvaille is out of our reach, at least for now. Yet I will not give up, I will not abandon my role as father and husband… rather, I pray each day for grace to lead her out of the dark sin she is in. She is, after all, one with me… and in as much as she is trapped in her sin, so to am I.

So take heart! You are on the path to grace, simply by attending together, and I will remember you in my prayers.

I will make sure to say some prayers for both you and the OP.

I just want to give you some encouragement as well. My mother was in a similar situation, and her example of comitment (albeit from a distance) to my father despite infidelity and abuse has profoundly impacted my understanding of marriage and sexuality for the better. It is a very difficult path, but the example you will be setting for your children will be invaluable (even if they don’t realize it at first). :hug1:

The Wanderer,

Thank you, and may God bless you. For me, there are many reasons I have to continue… My promise to God… my love for my wife… fear of the future… BUt perhaps the single most driving reason has been, hoping to live an example of my faith, for my children. While they see my wife go out every weekend “alone”… While they see she no longer wears her rings… They see me, at home, wearing my ring, and trying so hard to be a loving father and husband… Even now, after I was “served” my wife’s divorce filing just last month.

Thatnk you for your prayers and your kind words. They are appreciated more than you can know,

Clay,
I am sorry to hear you are in the position you find yourself in but I praise God for your faithfulness. Your example of true love and faithfulness will be so very important for your children as they one day begin their own relationships.
Please consider checking out The Gift of Self for $8 on Mary’s Advocates website (and join the group of others who desire to faithfully carry this cross).

Rosary Girl, you and your husband are in my prayers, that you connect on much more than an “emotional” level!!!

LOVE SO AMAZING

Clay,

I was in your shoes after suffering 18 years in an abusive marriage, but divorce was never an option. I prayed that God would soften my husband’s heart and he would decide to attend Retrouvaille. Two years later and after enduring even more anguish and abuse, it happened, and in GOD’S PERFECT TIME (def not mine!!) my husband changed through the power of the Holy Spirit! When we said our vows God “gifted” us with enough AMAZING GRACE to help us on our journey to “together forever”!

That said, you are so amazing, so steadfast is your love!!

Please know that MANY couples (and we’ve ministered to thousands of couples over the past 22 years!) have to endure more pain (as I did for two more years) before it’s their time according to GOD’S PERFECT TIME.

Or if they do attend the Retrouvaille program and it doesn’t seem to work for them (most likely because one or both of them decided to NOT give 100% to saving their marriage), they may eventually decide to attend a second or even a third time (we know of only one, tho) before they finally make the decision to love each other enough to put forth the effort to save their marriage relationship.

I don’t want to give you false hope, but in Retrouvaille we say that until one of the spouses remarries there’s always a spark of hope for that marriage relationship and we KNOW that God’s love can fan that spark into a flame! I pray that it happens for you IN GOD’S PERFECT TIME.

On another note, has anyone heard how Rosary Girl is doing? Did they attend Retrouvaille?
