I’m a young college student who was raised catholic (went to catholic school all my life & church except this year, etc) who left God and my faith about a year and a half ago. I started to do stupid things I knew I shouldnt be doing and sinning without realizing it. After one experience with marijuana, nothing has been the same for me. It brought out psychological issues that I had to immediatley deal with.

Now however it seems as if my personality is gone and I feel emotionless and blank. I cannot sleep and I can no longer feel the same prescence of God in my daily life like I used to years ago. I am lost and need your prayers.

Dominck. Don’t be discouraged. God welcomes you back at any stage of your earthly life. I struggled for many years with (not drugs) but issues and I thought I would never be able to turn my life around. Talk to a caring priest and go back to Church…I shouldn’t give advice here but that is what helped me. Please, God, take the Devil out of Dominick’s reach. He has a whole life ahead of him and can do wonderful things here on earth. Please help him in his struggles and bring him the calmness and serenity he so desperately needs. I’m keeping you in my prayers, Dominick.

One of the first things I did was talk to a priest, who was a very intelligent and caring man. He helped me out in the days after the main incident.

Thank you for praying for me, it means the world.

I’ll say a special prayer for you today at Mass. I find my own self feeling helpless, abandoned and alone at times. My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and then on Friday, I was fired from my job because “I didn’t fit in”…my emotions play dirty tricks on me but the power of prayer at the CF helps so much. Puts things in perspective for me and I keep trying to be strong…even though we are now facing foreclosure. God won’t let you down. He never does. It’s purgatory here on earth that we go through to cleanse our souls. Reach out to Him…He is there for YOU…God bless you.

Dear Dominick.
It sounds scary for you but you are obviously a good person, and though it might take a little time to get over how you feel now, with God’s help you will recover.
Dear God, sometimes people act of of character when they’re beginning to find their own way in the world, and it’s a disappointing shock to feel one’s let oneself down, but Dominick is a good person who wants to get his life, feelings, and mental state back in Your light. Please lead him to find help where it can bring him to flourish in wholeness and faith again. Our God, any number of traumas in our lives can leave us feeling empty and far from You, but if we keep seeking You, You find ways to embrace us and to warm our hearts agian. Please help Dominick to trust that this will occur, and welcome it as it comes.

Bless you, Dominick. I’ll remember you in my Masses and prayers. Dear Dominick, you were only a year away from Your loving Father in heaven. I lost Him at University and it took me ten years. Now He never gets rid of me. The following 'poem, does anything sound familiar? I wrote it when I was struggling to find Him again.
With love, Trishie
Loss of faith
What is this lethargy,
this tomb-cold, sad complacency
that binds me to the physical.
That allows no spiritual flight or insight—
no vision of a world that I had glimpsed and felt—
Divine world of mystery and truth.
Am I dead to thus exist
abandoned by the fire that once
would blaze my heart to heaven’s light?
Then bury me!
For this is not to live.
And I am not myself.
I have no soul, no God, no peace…
Hand—hits stone and tingles pain—
atoms conglomerate,
to soon disintegrate in death…1967

But He drew me back, as He will you.

You assure us through Isaiah, our God,
“I have dispelled your faults like a cloud
your sins like a mist
Come back to me, for I have redeemed you.” [Isaiah 44:22]
Furthermore, You proclaim:
“Happy those whose crimes are forgiven, whose sins are blotted out; happy the man whom the Lord considers sinless.” [Psalm 31:1-2] For through Your Son, You have “cancelled every record of the debt that we had to pay; He has done away with it by nailing it to the cross.” [Colossians 2:14-15]
Therefore, our God it is not presumptuous to ask that we may be healed of our faults and freed from our sin. Indeed, You have said:
“No need to recall the past,
no need to think about what was before.
See I am doing a new deed,
even now, it comes to light; can you not see it?
Yes, I am making a road in the wilderness,
paths in the wild.” [Isaiah 43:18-19]

Be kind to yourself, Dominick

Praying very hard for you Dominick. Your recognition of this problem is a step in the right direction. Pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance.

Thank you folks for your prayers. I’m starting to feel more like my old self.

Lord please be with and help Dominick.

Dominick, pray and pray often.

Dominick-

God is right there with you even though you do not realize it. He will never leave your side. Do not despair. You will be okay, I promise.

You are at a very difficult stage in your life; one of enormous transitions. Your struggle is not an unusual one and believe it or not, at college you probably had several people near you with the same hurdles but you had no way of knowing it.

Never give up; God never abandons His children.

I’ve added your prayer intention to the list on my blog so that others can keep you in their prayers as well.

God bless you,

Kelly 🙂

You have definately come to the right place for prayer!

Father, we beg of you to send your Holy Spirit
upon Dominick. Give him the strength he needs
to overcome all the evil of this world.
Grant him the peace that only comes with
the knowledge that you are there.
Allow his mind to comprehend your
love for each of us. Show him that no matter
how small we think something is, you are there
for us and will help us to over-come.
Help us to rid our world of drugs.
We ask all of this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN
