Please Pray for my Mother (and me too)

My mother’s colon cancer has recurred for a 3rd time. She was orignally diagnosed stage III in 2002. It recurred again in 2005, then again in Feb. 2007, that time not operable stage IV equivalent. She had chemo until July. the cancer was not visible on scans in June. Then Dec. 2007 scan shows cancer again in same place but smaller than in Feb. A high-risk type of surgery may be an option now, but my mother is afraid based on past bad experiences in hospitals. She is presently suffering from side effect from chemo.
To add to the mix, she broke her shoulder back in 2001, had a total knee replacement in 2004, and could use a replacement of her other knee but plans for that have obviously been repeatedly cancelled due to other medical issues.
I suffer from clinical depression and have done off and on since childhood. I left a degree program I was enrolled in to come home and care for my mother as well as my grandmother who had dementia and passed away in 2004, but for bureaucratic reasons that school would not allow me to return to complete it. This ultimately resulted in a lawsuit which is now on appeal to the state supreme court of the state in which this school was located. I also am having difficulty in having any other school accept the work I did toward that degree (which was about 85% complete) in transfer. I am lonely and tired and have no friends left. (Caring for such older an persistently ill persons doesn’t make me very interesting, I guess.)
Please pray for my mother - she worries about me ( I am her only child) and I worry about her.

Dear JLD -
As an only child myself and caregiver for my Mom for many years before her passing, I all too well understand the tribulations of illnesses that require serious treatment decisions - with no one to share in the discussion/decision-making process.

Trust me, there’s nothing about what you’re doing that makes you sound uninteresting as you allude. You are a blessing to those you are caring for. In time, you will realize the gifts you have currently - cherish them. And since you’re alone, do what I did - don’t be afraid to drop on your knees - at home - and cry out to God when you need to. Countless times I did it. God and Our Lady were the only ones I had - they’re with you, too.

Praying to the Blessed Mother for your dear Mom and for you. God Bless you for taking care of her when she needs you the most. I pray that Jesus wraps you both in His loving arms and takes care of everything. :gopray2:

May the Lord have mercy on you and your mother. May the Lord strengthen you and give you peace. I pray that the burdens on your mother are light and that the love you share for one another will by grace carry you through this time of trial.

I know how you feel, also. I helped with the care of my father when he was so ill - Alzheimer’s and cancer. Although my mom bore the brunt of the work, I helped her as much as possible to lighten the load. It takes its toll.

My prayers are with you.

I’'m sorry to hear about all that you, your mother, and your family are and have been going through. I’m praying for all of you through this time to be close to the lord.

You are a child of god, don’t ever forget that.

Thank you for prayers to date. A recent decision by the court was not favorable, legal options to resolve my problems probably are exhausted at this point. Please pray for some other school to permit me to finish. Recent surgical consultation for my mother kind of positive considering her condition in general. But she’s afraid of surgery. Please continue to pray as I am feeling badly and am hardly able to pray for myself.
