I ask CAF members for prayers for my 80 year-old mother. She has had trouble getting out of a chair for some years and has had mobility problems due to osteoporosis and arthritis, but her mobility suddenly worsened on Thursday. She saw the doctor on Thursday. He did a quick test for stroke, drew blood, checked urine, did a chest x-ray. He ended up diagnosing pneumonia , put her on an antibiotic and sent her home. She did not improve from Thursday to Sunday, but gradually worsened. Dad took her to the ER at noon yesterday. By then, the weakness had increased and spread to her right arm and she had slight slurring of speech with slight droopiness on the right side of her face. She pretty obviously had had a stroke or a series of small strokes. The deficit is most pronounced in her right leg because she could not lift her right leg at all when I arrived at the hospital. They did a CAT scan, which showed very slight bleeding, but they were unable to determine if that was the cause of her current problems or if the evidence of bleeding was due to a mini-stroke or strokes in the past. They scheduled an MRI for today. By the time I left the hospital last night, she was able to lift her right leg off the bed a bit, so maybe physical therapy will bring it back. The doctor said that that was unlikely due to the days involved with more and more deficit becoming apparent, yet she was moving her leg at the end of the day, so I don’t know what to think. Maybe it is that hardy Missouri farming family stock coming through (or maybe being as stubborn as a Missouri mule is a good thing once in awhile:)). Anyway, the doc basically said to make arrangements for a lot of help because she wasn’t likely to improve at all. Mom was talking and alert, she seemed in good spirits, laughing when the nurse joked with her and when the rest of us tried to lift her spirits. She just seemed a little weak and tired, but she was ready to start therapy right then and there so she could go home as soon as possible. Anyway, please pray for my Mom and Dad, my sibs and my family as we face this new challenge.

Thank you and may God bless you all for your kindness.

Your mother sounds an amazing woman, courageous and spirited in the face of long-term pain and restriction of arthritis, and increasing health issues.
I ask God to continue to light up her spirit and to help her surmount her physical problems as much as possible.
I ask God’s kindest blessings on this valiant mother’s family.

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee, Blessed art Thou amongst women, and Blessed is the Fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Thank you all so much for your prayers and kind words. May the good Lord bless you for your kindness toward my family.

We just got home from the hospital. The neurologist finally came in about 8:00 this evening to tell us that the MRI confirmed that Mom had had a small stroke. The doctor spoke with us to get details of the progression of events and examined Mom pretty thoroughly. Though we cannot know what will happen, we are hopeful that Mom will be able to make progress with speech, occupational and physical therapy and be able to return to most of her previous activities. Mom will leave the hospital for rehab on Wednesday. Perhaps gardening, canning, freezing produce, making jellies, sauces, etc, camping, traveling, etc. will not be the same this year as in the past for Mom, but we can hope for a better year next year.

Again, I thank you all for your kindness in remembering my Mom, Dad and family in your prayers. May He who blesses us all, bless you and yours abundantly!

Deo Gratias!

Lord God, please bless this elderly woman. Our elderly are so frail Lord, but the wisdom You have provided to them through years of life makes them so very much valued to those who are younger than they. Please console this family as they deal with the health issues of their elderly loved one, and if You so will it, Lord, provide long life and quality of life for this woman. Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, I pray. Amen.

Prayer of thanksgiving and gratitude to our Lord and also offered in thanks to CAF members for their charity and kindness. Thank you all! This is my prayer to include all of you, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Gratitude

Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon us and receive our heartfelt gratitude in this time of giving thanks.

Thank you for all the graces and blessings you have betowed upon us, spiritual and temporal, our faith and religious heritage. Our food and shelter, our health, the love we have for one another, our family and friends.

Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please grant us all continued graces and blessing throughout the coming year and throughout our lives.

This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Thank you all for your charity, support and prayers for my family. We feel so blessed! I know that sometimes God answers prayers in ways we ask Him to and in ways we understand and easily accept, and at other times He does not. This time He answered all our prayers in a way we clearly understand and happily accept and my family feels so blessed. I know He blesses all of us all the time, but we are glad that He has chosen this for us.

My mom was released from the hospital today and is now happily settled back at home. She is doing pretty well. Though she cannot yet walk without a walker and even then can only take a few steps and she still has weakness in her right arm and hand, she is making progress. Her speech sounds pretty close to normal. She has her walker and wheelchair, bath bench, hand held shower etc. at home now and will start therapy at an outpatient rehab facility right away tomorrow. They’ll provide transportation to and from the facility and she’ll spend five hours there five days a week. She is really happy and so is Dad. And, so is the rest of our family.

Mom may not be able to get out in the garden just yet, but she can see the garden from her wheelchair on the deck. The asparagus is just about ready now so that there will likely be enough for Easter dinner, so she is happy and all is well and right with the world.🙂 :heaven:

Again, thank you all for your prayers. May He who blesses us all bless you and yours abundantly.

Thank You dear Lord for Your kind blessings to this loved mother and her family!
