My mother passed away in October, 3 days before her 89th birthday. My brother and sister live nearby and kept a close eye on her especially when she quit driving. I live pretty far away and visited as often as I could. Here’s the problem. My mom and I are the only practicing Catholics. A neighbor took her to Sunday Mass. When I visited her, we went to Mass every day, we went to the Dr, grocery store and all the usual errands.
However, I never said “let’s go to confession”. I go before any flight so when I arrived at her home, I had just gone. It really grieves me that I don’t have any idea of her last confession, how could I have been so thoughtless. Please, if your parents or anyone you know is dependent on others, please don’t forget about confession as I did. I am suffering a lot of guilt added to normal grief that my mother is no longer walking the earth.
Please pray for all the poor souls in purgatory. God bless.
