I only went to confession last thursday and once again today I fell and have viewed porn on the internet and masturbated. plese pray for me, I’m off to confession tomorrow, and I feel the humiliation of telling the confessor its been under a week since my last is penance enough! I always feel so weak, and always fall back into this sin regularly, it feels as if I dont take confession seriously, even though when I’m in the confessional I feel so sorry for my sins. Please pray for me, that I may keep up the fight against this ugly sin, i thought i was doing so well until today. But when I’m concentrating on not sinning this way, its aways nagging in my head. I think I could be addicted!

Matt

Praying for you Matt.

Oh My Jesus, forgive us our sins save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, espically those in most need of your mercy.

It just feels that by falling into sin almost weekly, that I am abusing confession and using it to ‘go through the motions’, as it were. But when I have sinned, I always feel deep regret, and I always feel deeply sorry in the confessional so I dont think I’m abusing it as such, maybe relying on it too much?

hey! I am going to say a prayer for you.

I am currently fighting masturbation. Not porn.

but what I do is I pray my head out.
Code:
when tempted:
  1. our father
    2. Say as many hail marys until your not tempted. ( one time it took me 9 but last time it literally took me 18, I counted )
  2. end with prayer to guardian angel.
That has been succesful for me in the past. I am almost done with this sin! But I mest up today. 😦

but anyway. Try what I said!

when the tv (seriously consider using it as coffee table or aquarium 😛 ) or internet start to weaken me with all kinds of temptations, i say a prayer and then start reading though all these threads. this forum is addictive in and of itself!

Glorious Saint Michael, Prince of the heavenly hosts, who stands always ready to give assistance to the people of God; who fought with the dragon, the old serpent, and cast him out of heaven, and now valiantly defends the Church of God that the gates of hell may never prevail against her, I earnestly entreat you to assist Matt also, in the painful and dangerous conflict which he sustains against the same formidable foe.

Be with Matt, O mighty Prince! that he may courageously fight and vanquish that proud spirit, whom you, by the Divine Power, gloriously overthrew, and whom our powerful King, Jesus Christ, has, in our nature, completely overcome; so having triumphed over the enemy of my salvation, he may with you and the holy angels, praise the clemency of God who, having refused mercy to the rebellious angels after their fall, has granted repentance and forgiveness to fallen man.

Amen.

Try to focus more on God and his eternal perfection and less on your self-improvement (though don’t completely ignore that). If you focus on merely you self-improvement, you will never succeed. (My signature should remind you of something).

I am praying for you.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Matt,

Believe me, we’ve all been there (more then we care to admit). Continue to go to confession and ask your priest for advice as well as absolution.

A person in another thread suggested we offer up these temptations to God for others that are also suffering in these same struggles. It helps…

Will pray for you and please don’t get discouraged…

Clear your cache, confess, and clear your conscience in Confession. Forcibly control your mind (conform your conscience) around that which is good for you.

Regarding your second post, you can NEVER abuse the Sacrament. You can NEVER go too much. It’s a source of great graces – and strength is built againt temptation through this grace! Don’t be disheartened or embarrassed!

Think of it this way: There is a thread that ties you to God. When you sin, the thread is cut. In Confession, the two ends of the string are knotted back together – making the distance between you & God shorter. The more you go to Confession, the closer you bring your self and your conscience to God.

Don’t let Satan tempt you into thinking that you’re such a sinner that you aren’t worthy of the Sacrament of Penance. Many saints have been tempted that way (like St. Teresa of Avila).

I will be praying for you! :gopray: PM me anytime!

Praying for your intentions:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary
