Today we received sad news that a priest in the area has left the priesthood on his own accord. He was suffering depression and alcohol abuse. The pressure of running a parish these days is more than some can deal with, and they are overwhelmed with doing too much and not enough help.

Please pray for our priests and for vocations to the priesthood.

Blessings

Prayers are on the way…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Prayers for the sake of our holy priests.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the blessed virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
He rose again on the third day.
He ascended to Heaven where he is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He shall come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the communion of saints, the resurrection of the dead and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
May Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

I thank God for all of our Priest and Religious. May he guide us to aide them in the things they try to accomplish.

Lord Jesus, you said to Your disciples and followers, “The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few.” Today I pray that Your Holy Spirit will guide and inspire more men to vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and that there will also be an increase of vocations in orders of women religious and consecrated. We are experiencing a shortage especially in the priesthood; while married life and the life of a single person are vocations with their own dignity and graces, the highest calling a young man can answer is to become a priest.

God our Father, You know how dire the situation is at this point in time. Parishes are being merged or shut down, and some are not as lucky to have three or four priests who minister to the families that belong to it. They may only have one priest, and even then, he may be ministering to more than one parish, so he is not always able to be available to everyone at once. Lord God, I humbly pray that You will fill the seminaries with able young men, and that we will see the various religious orders explode with new members.

The harvest is indeed plenty, but in some places the workers are very few. Almighty God, hear and answer our prayer, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Father, today “the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few” and You said to us through your Son, “Ask the master of the harvest to send labourers to gather the harvest.” Filled with confidence, we ask in Your plan of salvation to provide shepherds for your people. Fill those you have chosen, with a spirit of courage and love to answer the call as religious brother and sister and your call as minister of your altar and an ardent servant of the gospel. We ask this through Christ out Lord, Amen.

Keep them, I pray Thee, dearest Lord,
keep them, for they are Thine.
Thy priests whose live burn out before
Thy consecrated shrine.
Keep them, for they are in the world,
through from the world apart
when earthly pleasure tempt, allure
shelter them in Thy heart.
Keep them, and comfort them in hours
of loneliness and pain
when all their life of sacrifice
For souls seems but in vain.
Keep them and O remember Lord
they have no one but Thee
yet they have only human hearts
with human frailty.
Keep them as spotless as the host
that daily they caress
their every thought and word and deed
deign, dearest Lord to bless.
Amen
