Prayer to St. John Baptist de la Salle, Patron of Educators

Well-known Founder of the Congregation of the Brothers of Christian Schools, orthodox and prayerful theologian, you realized the very great value of competent Christian educators.
How great your wholesome influence has been! Make your followers continue to be Christlike models for all their students who in turn will edify others. Amen.

A Prayer of Teachers

Lord Jesus Christ, imbue me with the knowledge of both secular and religious subjects that is necessary to my task on earth. Let me be equipped with suitable qualifications and also with a pedagogical skill that is in harmony with the discoveries of the contemporary world.
Help me to be closely united with my students by the bond of love, and work in partnership with their parents to stimulate the students to act for themselves.
Even after their graduation, let me continue to assist them
with advice and friendship.
Bestow on me an apostolic spirit to bear witness, both by life and by instruction,
to the unique Teacher---You, Jesus Christ. Amen.

A Prayer for Teachers

Heavenly Father, who promised that all those who instruct others in the ways of holiness will shine as stars for all eternity, fill our hearts and minds with true knowledge and the art of teaching. Give us patience and understanding, justice and prudence, humility and fear of the Lord. Grant us wisdom and charity so that with a pure and holy love of God we ourselves may enjoy all these gifts and impart them to our pupils. Teach our children to be obedient to your laws and docile to your inspirations. Let them be instruments of your peace in their homes, in our land, and in the family of nations as becomes children of the sons of God in the Mystical Body of Christ. May the blessings of your sevenfold Gifts be in all who teach and in all who learn through the Holy Spirit who is the Love of the Father and the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Help them to be a fine teacher,
to keep peace in the classroom,
peace between students and themselves,
to be kind and gentle
to each and every one of their students.

Help them to be merciful to their students,
to balance mercy and discipline
in the right measure for each student,
to give genuine praise as much as possible,
to give constructive criticism
in a manner that is patatable to their students.

Help them remain conscientious
enough to keep their lessons always interesting,
to recognize what motivates each of their students,
to accept their student’s limitations
and not hold it against them.

Help them not to judge their students too harshly,
to be fair to all,
to be a good role model,
but most of all Lord, help them
to show your love to all of their students.

Amen.

Amen.
