My Brothers & sisters:
Please pray for my long-time friend and hairdresser, Smilka, who broke her leg last Sat. and has been in pain ever since as well as unable to do her work. Since Smilka is an independent contractor, she has to work as a hair-stylist to make a living and support herself and her disabled friend, Cynthia. and, since she is a hair-stylist, she has to be able to stand & move around to do her job.
Since Cynthia’s Disabling Event occured while she was on the job, the SSA required that she file for a Permanent Disablity under Workman’s Comp and has stated that no SSD/SSI claim would be considered until that avanue had been exhausted. Her Workman’s Comp Disability Claim has been denied, but now it has been so long since Cynthis has worked that she is no longer eligible for SSD (she followed the SSA instructions - It still didn’t help her). The only program she’d qualify for would be SSI.
All of that means that, with Smilka’s injury, their only income has now been suspended, at least until Smilka’s leg heals and she can get back to work.
Smilka is a lapsed Serbian Orthodox, and one thing I’ve been working on has been to try to get her to begin praying & attending the Divine Liturgy.
My Brothers and Sisters, please pray - 1. That GOD would heal Smilka’s broken leg and do so speedily; 2. That HE would give her release from her pain; 3. that HE would heal Cynthia from her disabilities; 4. That HE would find her a source of funds to help her deal with the present financial crises; and 5. that HE would renew her faith and draw her back to HIMSELF and to HIS Church.
I know that’s a lot, but I think Smilka and Cynthia need a lot right now.
