Hi. You might already know this about me but in case you don’t, I have autism and try to help out other autistic people. I would like prayers for the autistic please. For those who are wondering “What in the world is autism?” then WebMD has the answer.

"Autism is a brain disorder that often makes it hard to communicate with and relate to others. With autism, the different areas of the brain fail to work together.

Most people with autism will always have some trouble relating to others. But early diagnosis and treatment have helped more and more people with autism to reach their full potential."

Please pray for us who have autism and those who care for and love us. Thank you.

PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Ojcze Nasz, któryś jest w niebiesiech,
święć się imię twoje;
przyjdż królestwo twoje,
bądż wola twoja,
jako w niebie tak i na ziemi.
Chleba naszego powszedniego daj nam dzisiaj,
i odpuść nam nasze winy,
jako i my odpuszczamy naszym winowajcom.
I nie wódż nas w pokuszenie,
ale nas zbaw ode złego
Amen.

Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre,
venga tu reyno,
hagase tu voluntad,
asì en la tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan cotidiano,
Y perdónanos nuestras deudas,
asì como nosotros perdonamos á nuestros deudores.
Y no nos metas en tentación,
mas líbranos de mal.
Amén.

Dear Lord,

Please bless your autistic children to ease any problematic sensory overload so that they are able to function by being able to correctly process information in accordance with Your Will, such that their intelligence shines through and develops. Please shield them from ear-splitting noise levels, from lights and motions in the environment that are too dazzling, from smells that overpower, from ultra-sensitivity to touch, from keen taste that can make eating unpleasant … Please tone down these sensations to the point where they can be used as gifts of above average hearing, eyesight, touch, smell, taste rather than being overwhelmingly crippling distractors from interaction with the outside physical world.

Lord,

If your autistic children were not born with the ability to innately recognize the non-verbal body language cues, gestures, the unspoken codes, or the nuanced verbal language and meanings within social interaction, please allow them to learn as much as You feel is for their good and for Your greater glory, … and grant patience to those around them.

Lord,

Please spare your autistic children from those who, well-meaning or not, would prescribe medications that would end up doing more harm than good physically, emotionally, or mentally. Please spare them also from the stigma of labels but instead surround them with teachers who can draw out their natural gifts and talents based on their deep sense of focus and areas of interest. Let people see the good in them and give them plenty of opportunities to thrive and succeed as the unique individuals they are, rather than being ostracized for being “different.”

St. Joseph of Cupertino, pray for them.

Thank you for posting this. My son has Aspergers Syndrome. I have prayed and prayed…and let me tell you…prayer does work. I hope you find that you have autism and autism doesn’t have you. You are gift from God and are blessed. I know you think in the concrete and God and faith may elude you. The Holy Spirit has endowed you with many gifts and talents, use them. May the peace of the Lord always be with you. My son will be graduating college next May.

Wow, just because someone has Asperger’s Syndrome and may tend to think concretely rather than abstractly/figuratively doesn’t mean he or she automatically has problems with faith or conceiving the existence of God. It doesn’t even mean that the person is incapable of abstract or figurative thought. In fact, he or she may even be recognized as an abstract artist or perhaps be a poet who can look upon life on many levels.

And what about concrete belief in God? Try it, you might like it. 🙂

For an increase of understanding and acceptance of individual differences as well as the capacity to encourage rather than limit or set boundaries, let us pray …

I think that most family members who have an autistic in the family are usually conditioned to see other autistic people in the same way as their family member. I might be wrong on that though. I don’t think either of you meant disrespect to anyone. Besides she could have had a long day of work and didn’t mean it that way. Simple “brain fart” (sorry for such a grotesque term but I didn’t know any better ones).

I can certainly see where you’re coming from.

Thanks for starting this thread, Raymond,
and I don’t believe I’ve welcomed you to CAF yet
although I do remember posting
to one or more of your prayer threads.

Hail and well met.

:blessyou:

Praying for all who have special gifts, talents and challenges different than the mainstream! Praying for society to embrace those with autism, and for those with this special way of being to have patience and perseverance in dealing with the world. Lord, please grant strength, courage, peace and the creativity necessary to live and love to their full capacity in an often non-understanding and sometimes prejudicial world. Father, for those without autism who the world calls “normal”, please grant us all the ability to see all people, disabled or not, as being made in Your image, as beautiful and perfect in Your eyes. Amen.

I have mild Asperger’s and it really made my day to see this thread. Thanks so much!
