Please Pray for the People of Ireland who are facing a severe storm

Pretty much the title. While I would also love to pray for the re-conversion of Ireland’s lukewarm Catholics, I came here to ask the people here to pray for Ireland, which is being menaced by Storm Ophelia, which is likely to cause severe damage to my nation.

Praying for Ireland … but I heard that the storm was downgraded.

from Hurricanes and Other Storms

God, our Father, Eternal and Omnipotent, Creator
and Lord of the Universe, You have set the earth
on its foundation and all elements of nature obey
Your command. You give food to all flesh, cover
the heavens with clouds, and provide rain to the earth.

We humbly beseech You Lord, Most High, to keep us
safe from all dangers and to calm all the storms that
threaten us: especially whirlwinds, hurricanes, hail
storms, lightning, floods, and tidal waves.

I’m not entirely certain, but I do know for sure that the National Weather Service recently upgraded the severity warnings such that the whole island is subject to the highest-level weather warnings Ireland has (previously it was thought that only Western and Southern coastal areas would be at this much risk).
 
I’ve been following this storm and this is the latest that was reported on it …

Ophelia is still a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph, moving to the north-northeast at 38 mph. Satellite imagery shows that Ophelia is quickly losing tropical characteristics and is transitioning to a powerful non-tropical low pressure area. Although it is becoming non-tropical, it will still be a large and powerful storm which will batter the British Isles with rain and wind Monday into Monday night.

Ophelia will bring tropical storm-force winds with gusts over hurricane force over a large part of the western British Isles Monday through early Tuesday. Damaging winds are possible across Ireland, Northern Ireland and western Scotland, with strong and perhaps damaging wind gusts over Wales and westernmost England. The strongest winds will be along the coast of southern and southwestern Ireland where gusts as high as 90 mph can occur. Rainfall from Ophelia will average 1-2 inches as well.

I live on the coast in New Jersey U.S. … so I follow these kinds of storms all the time … the above-referenced storm, although strong, is not a severely damaging storm … some minor damage may occur, but most likely they will come through this okay. Let’s continue our prayers that that is the case.

One thing is important though … how the homes are built … if they are not built strong, then the damage could be more severe.

Oh, we will certainly pray as we have a house and farm there. The neighbors had not said anything, and we don’t watch the news. Thank you for this.

Additiional prayers for your home and farm … may this storm pass over Ireland with as little damage as possible.
 
I’m echoing Katherine’s sentiments. May God protect your farm and house.

Praying for the physical safety of all in Ireland facing this storm and also praying their homes and property will be protected. Praying that the Holy Spirit will open t he hearts of those in Ireland to conversion.

Merciful God please bring about restoration of Catholic faith in this nation that for centuries was a witness of Catholic life.

As the Irish call upon Your protection before this storm, let their minds and hearts be opened to the flooding of Your grace into their souls and their lives.

Please bless all with protection from harm
