A kindly priest I knew from going to confession and Mass at his parish a few times has passed away from a serious illness. As usual it happened during a week I was out of town and I missed the obituary and the funeral as his parish is about 15 miles away from my regular parish. I only found out because against all odds, someone from his parish happens to be in my Purgatorial Society Facebook group and posted about his passing there last month. Where I proceeded to miss the post until this morning.
Fr K. was a very nice older man and also the first and only married priest in his diocese, as he was a married Lutheran minister when he converted. Before he got sick he was a cathedral rector and in addition to that, pastor of two parishes simultaneously even though he was well past retirement age (his diocese seems to have a serious priest shortage). He was survived by his wife of 50 years and two adult children.
I have been praying for his recovery from his illness for the past year, he was such a nice man even though I only got to talk to him about twice in the confessional and attend a few of his Masses.
Prayers for his soul would be appreciated.
