Please pray for this widow in need

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

A dear friend and devout Catholic who recently joined our Legion of Mary group became a widow suddenly when her husband was killed in an accident. It was completely unexpected and a shock to all – yet her faith has been a beautiful witness to her trust in Jesus through Mary.

She and her husband were in the process of selling their house and moving upstate to be nearer to family, when the accident occurred. She moved upstate, about two or three weeks after the accident and I e-mailed her.

She replied, asking prayers for Jesus and Mary to send the “perfect” buyer for their house, soon. Admitting her fatigue, her faith still shines. So I am asking all on this forum to pray for this dear widow, especially through the intercession of Jesus and Mary who was a widow when St. Joseph died. Financial difficulties on top of missing her husband can be a heavy cross for this widow.

Thanks so much – I will let you know as soon as I hear someone has bought the house!
 
I will pray for her husband’s soul and that her needs are met.

Thanks so very much. I know how grateful a person she is, so I thank you in her name. I never met her husband but I was blessed at his funeral Mass to join his wife and family and friends to pray for his Eternal rest. It really touched my heart to read in her e-mail how much she missed him. I cannot imagine what it would be like if my husband died before I do but I trust, as she is trusting now, by God’s Grace, in God’s Love for all His children. 🙂

I cannot imagine this either. It happened to my sister this past Christmas Season.
All you can really do is be present for them, and listen to what they say.
You cant ‘do’ or fix anything no matter how much you want this.

Yes, this is true in so far as we can’t “undo” what God has already permitted, but it is important, as you said, to be present to those in sorrow, and “suffer with them” in the way Mary our Mother suffered with Christ. To be compassionate is, by God’s Grace, a gift we can offer.

I’m praying for her. May the Lord comfort her and strengthen her. May He also bring the right buyer into her life.

I’ll pray for her, as one recent sudden unexpected widow to another.

She should bury a St. Joseph statue in the yard of that house, if she hasn’t already.
The lady I bought this house from did that very thing…and she was Jewish ( left me her mezuzah nailed on the door frame when she moved out). I know she did it because at the closing she said she and her husband had had to run by the house first and dig up St. Joseph.
