Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

I am the father of a five year-old little girl who has a congenital heart defect. Our daughter will need a heart transplant in the near future. We have wrestled with this issue. It is not morally wrong to refuse a heart transplant. A heart transplant is an extraordinary measure. We will certainly go down the transplant road with our daughter.
Someone stated that many children live 15-20 years after having a heart transplant. Well, many children do not make it off the table or reject the heart. There are no guarantees.
This girl appears wise beyond her age. She has been through so much, more than any 13 year-old deserves. I pray for her continued courage. I pray for her family to enjoy and make good use of the time they have with her.
