On April 1, 2008 I started a Novena of Confidence to the Sacred Heart for our finances. Ever since then it seems things have gone from bad to worse. We are very short on money, my husband who is a truck driver was told by his company that if he doesn’t get his idle time under 40% by end of month he will be fired and today he got shut down for ten hours causing him to lose out on miles we needed and got a $203 ticket for starting off ten minutes early and a $203 ticket for not having his hearing aids in (the truck noise makes too much distortion for him to wear while driving).
The DOT officer seemed to be taking it out on him once he found out he is Catholic. He has velcro on his dashboard. The officer thought it was for a radar detector (which hubby doesn’t even have) and got really nasty once he found out it is velcro for my husband’s statue of Mary. He searched his truck and threw all of his Catholic books around and his clothes out on the ground, etc. Then afterward he told him to pray to his statue and maybe he will get the money for his tickets! This happened in Tennessee. This is really the first anti-catholic experience we have had since becoming Catholic in December 2006.
In spite of this, my husband and I have had a really good conversation today about how we will continue to have faith, believe for the good no matter what happens and that all of this is only one more opportunity for us to see God’s glory. We are uniting our suffering with Jesus and will continue to believe no matter what. It is also helping me to refuse to let circumstances rob me of one minute of peace. I have wasted too much of my life being upset and I’m stopping now.
Any prayers for our situation would be greatly appreciated, just for our circumstances to improve (also for my son and his finances) and that we continue to grow even stronger in our faith. Thank you so much.
