yes… I believe in what you are saying… The Church is there for the spiritually sick too. I mean God sends us all these trials and tribulation and that is why we have the sacraments to keep us strong… LIfe is hard and many people who have fallen away from the Church , think that the Church whill shun them away due to their sins. How can the Church do that since we all are sinners and in need of God’s mercy. We do not have to invent crosses. Life alone gives you so many cross to bear… Thanks for your ministry and thank you for being one of those person who is not quick to judge…
Dear Mayita30,

“All of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) None of us can rightly refuse mercy to anyone since we have been saved through God’s Mercy. Jesus came to set us free from sin and He accomplishes this first through Baptism, and He continues enabling us to grow in holiness through prayerful and fruitful reception of the Sacraments He has given to His Church.

When we grow in faith, we begin to “see” by faith that our life is not “of this world” but truly “in Christ”. Some Catholics simply have not grown into the mature faith God intends and so are either continuing to search or have turned from God in pursuit of happiness without Him in this world.

Yes, life isn’t easy and it wasn’t easy for Christ. As we come to know Him especially through Scripture we see His Life was one of suffering, yet He was always doing the Will of our Father and so He calls us to follow in His footsteps as Mary and all the saints have done. We, as brothers and sisters in His Church, members of His Body, need to bring the “Good News” of Jesus to all who need Him. We need to keep the joy God sets before us, as we endure the Cross He permits. He works all things unto good (Romans 8:28).

By God’s grace, may we all pray to the Holy Spirit for His guidance in bringing Jesus to others, to work for the upbuilding of the Body of Christ in love. Thanks again for your prayers and for whatever you can do personally to help any brother or sister find the way “home”. 🙂

Praying for this very worthy intention.
Thanks so very much, Hodegetria,

Still have not heard from anyone who might come; please keep praying and God willing, I’ll update thread tomorrow. Some may come without contacting us first. We’ll see.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This image is a good one to express God’s Love for every child He creates. I’m asking prayers especially for those Catholics who have wandered from their faith, given to them in Baptism, with hope and charity. Many were infants who never really knew the Church they left as the One True Church founded by Jesus, and either have become members of some denomination or have turned away from the Lord totally.

Our Parish will begin another six week series for “Returning Catholics” this coming Saturday and I ask you to pray that all those who need to “come home” will attend. If you know any non-practicing Catholics, please pray specifically for them. If the Holy Spirit prompts you, please reach out to them. Personal contacts/invitations are always more effective. If you can offer to accompany them to the series that can also help. You may not have a series like this in your parish, but our brothers and sisters who have left the Church need to know they are missed! May the Holy Spirit give you the words to encourage them to come home.

We’ve sent announcements about the series to our Diocesan and local newspapers. We put up posters downtown in the bagel shop, and on windows of the UPS store, banks, bookstores, clothing stores and hardware stores, and left contact cards and trifolds wherever they allowed us to do so. One of our parishioners, who owns an Art Gallery downtown took a picture of our poster and put it on her Facebook page. If you have a Facebook page and would like to post something, please do. Personal contacts are best, but we need to reach out in whatever way we can to let our brothers and sisters know we care. If they can’t come Saturday, that’s ok – others started late, and returned to learn what they missed.

Thanks so much. I am convinced of the power of prayer offered in union with Jesus and Mary for others.
praying for your intentions.

praying for your intentions.
Thanks so much! My husband will be leaving soon for the first meeting of the “Returning Catholics” series. God willing, I’ll update this thread later today. Please keep praying.

Praying hard.
Dear Rocket, and all who have been following this thread and praying,

Thanks so much to you and to all who prayed with us. I have some good news: we had one person come to our first session, who was away from the Catholic Church as a “practicing Catholic” for some seven years. She came from a neighboring parish and told us that she had some “unfriendly” experiences at that parish but when she came to our parish on Easter Sunday she felt “at home”. Everyone was friendly and she saw people of all ages from old to young smiling. When she read the bulletin, she saw our information and decided to come today.

When she left she told us she’d see us next week. She said she felt so much better. 🙂

God works in strange ways; the other members of our team could not make the meeting today, so it was just my husband and myself. When I heard from one of our team members this morning that he would not make it, I thanked him for letting us know, but I hoped he would be able to come next week. I added – we weren’t sure if anyone was coming but we intended to show up until the end of the six weeks.

Every single soul is so very important to Jesus. This is the second time only one person came to the first meeting. I’ve always felt that the Lord knew they needed to be the only one, for His own reasons. Maybe there will be another or others, next week. Please keep praying and thanks again so much.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end AMEN
