Please read and help me answer this.. I'm weary!

Is this a little to uncharitable?? How would I soften this last reply? These are the things I’d like to relay to this person, but my charity meter seems to be off kilter.

I’ve tried to explain through documentation and show where you were mistaken as far as the TRUE Catholic beliefs (which you called **** instead of seeing that we do think non catholics can attain heaven) You’ve implied that whatever our faith holds is nonsense, yet I’ve shown verse after verse where our faith stems from. You have patronized me throughout our conversation, saying that you’re happy for me (even though I follow an inferior man-made religion). Do you actually see that we’re really much more alike than you think, IF I were actually following a man-made religion as you claim? You follow yourself, you’ve created your own “religion” and have omitted some of Jesus’ commandments to have communion “in memory of Me” and “ When 2 or more of you are gathered in My name, I will be amongst you” (which even many protestant religions follow), would being your own priest and following your own rules that you perceive come from the Bible not be man-made?

I encourage you to pray with an open heart and an open mind as I’m not sure if you really want to know the truth or if you just want to think yourself right
 
He called our doctrines ****? :eek: I am glad your talking to him and not me, I fear I am too Irish to stand such talk from anyone about my Church and My God.

Thank you Lillith, I couldn’t have done it without the help from wonderful CA Posters. I was also given a bit more courage which woke me up a bit too.

I can’t seem to let go sometimes, and sometimes for all the wrong reasons (A prideful need to be right?). This time, because some of you made me think a bit before posting, I prayed and learned through this involvement. I felt a need to defend the Church and not just accept people who are misinformed. I always feel that need, but this time I also felt a bond here, that I was not alone in defending.

**Please elaborate! This is an intriguing comment for me. I fail to see where you’d see different “personalities”. I only see my use of different approaches to express what I’m trying to convey. My style is the same now as in all my posts here, and I tend to think I’m a pretty stable person, who also tries to refute misconceptions in Catholic beliefs. ( I hope others here tend to think that as well) **

Maybe you’re seeing different “personalities” because I finally figured out how to break down posts and respond step by step… that’s been a long, long learning process for me 😃

Most people defend their faith and the Word, this is my first experience where I have ever seen someone actually went out of their way to defend a church.

I think the problem in our communications is that you’re coming from the perspective of a “loner” and I’m coming from the perspective of the whole. You’re not understanding that just because Catholics, or any organized religion for that matter, follow a certain set of “rules of faith”, that we are still individuals who are privately worshipping as well. We are not only Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians etc, BUT we are also on a personal journey with the help of our churches.

It felt like your church was more important or above God or you believed it was on the same level/footing with God. I not only got that feeling from you but also when I did that small research on the catholic church. In fact that is exactly what it implies and that is the lie that needs to be refuted and if any one is spreading lies it is your church.

I’m sure you’ve been able to study early Christian beliefs, and the CCC (our rule book) and have been able to compare the scriptures to what the Church believes? **

I understand that it’s not easy to research an institution that has been in place since Christianity began. There’s just so much information to go through, but saying that we believe this or that, and saying things on how you feel and what you think is implied, is a big mistake without backing up the accusations with unrefutable documentation

Something like a king preparing for an extended absence would give the keys of the kingdom (the authority to govern) to his prime minister until he returns. Jesus (our Heavenly King) gave the authority to the Apostles and their successors until His return.

It’s not a matter of being superior to God, it’s a matter of being His “prime minister”

Churches will use the things of God to get you to believe that they and God are one and the same and when you think you are serving God you are actually worshiping a man**.**

**I’ve studied the Church teachings long enough to know that the only “man” it worships is the “Man-God named Jesus”. **

I believe that is why the Holy Spirit exposes corruption in churches so the followers who truly seek after Him, will know that something is not right.

I know that the corruption in the Catholic Church was exposed for the reason that Jesus made a promise to it…. A cleansing was needed, and a lesson. Most of the time, it takes an individual extreme circumstances to change their sinful ways, why not churches?
I try not to concern myself with who is right or who is wrong and what church is the true church and which one is not, as I believe that with my trust in God and not man He will lead me in the way that I should go. Such concerns have no importance when your focus is only on God.

These are serious times we are living in and deception and corruption larks all around, but He have always kept it far away from me.

So if I came off strong it is because I put nothing and no one above God for He has been faithful to me and therefore I am single minded with the things that are His.

I thank you or who ever it was that give out the invitation to the, your church, but I can’t worship no other God but Him. I hate to nit/pick but it’s not up to me to make myself worthy,

He already found me worthy and therefore I am.

I never meant that you weren’t worthy, what I meant to say was that through our actions, we need to show our worth, we need to show Him that He didn’t die for ungrateful brats

one aspect…the Church as the body of Christ. That truth makes this statement utterly absurd…if you defend the Church you are defending the Body of Christ!

I will also tell you something that I heard from John Martinoni…CA live apologist…that drives some protestants bonkers but if you think about it…is surely a truth. If you friend here has had a valid baptism…in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit…he has been born into the body of Christ…which is the Catholic Church…Mind blowing it is…don’t use that if you think he might stroke!

EPH. 4:3-5 in synapsis states that the Church is one: She acknowledges one Lord, confesses one faith, is born of one baptism, forms only one body, is given life by the one spirit, for the sake of hope
 
I just forgot one thing…I went back and read the thread and found it funny that a Bible Alone believer became a little too defensive when you started quoting scripture! I would have never guessed that reaction… he/she is not as learned in scripture as is proclaimed…and although there is venom…you could be breaking through somewhat!

Another thing…the split personality question…maybe he can sense us here at CA…cheering you on 😃
 
Thank you Lillith, I think that perhaps the Body of Christ would be lost on this person as they’re vehemently opposed to THAT truth. I think that the Holy Spirit would have a lot more work to do before they’d accept (but you ARE right)

LOLOL about my Cheerleaders! Isn’t it funny? But I don’t think I’ll tell her that. Poor girl/boy, if they’d at least belong to a church, they could have a cheerleading section too… or at least concrete beliefs.
 
Loboto-Me, my dear firend, I see that you are continuing the quest. May God bless you! I, myself, have also grown weary from the battle and have taken a few weeks off and returned home (CAF) to recharge my batteries before renewing the fight.

I have your six and will step in if needed. Although it appears that your last reply has put everyone in their place.
 
My dear Sir! How wonderful to see you!

Being an amateur defender is not easy work, but, being blessed with good… no… wonderful cheerleaders and helpmates from CA has given me more strength to go on. I seem to have a problem with charity, I’m working on restraining my temper, but I still feel some of it oozes through my posts at times.

You my friend have been a terrific teacher and every time I try to defend the faith Jesus entrusted to St Peter, I think of you 🙂 I hope you enjoy your CAF “holiday” (passes you some “eveready batteries”) 😃

But the Church is not, and could not possibly be such a thing - that belongs to God, alone. Unless “ultimate” does not mean “ultimate” - the word does seem (in the context) to call for a strict interpretation.​

I was going to cut and paste one of the posts but decided that in order for you all to understand what’s going on, you’d need to see the whole conversation. I’m getting weary, and I do understand that sometimes people who don’t want the truth won’t accept it no matter what, but, I still want people to see that the Church is NOT a dictatorship but the method through which Jesus chose to spread his Word.

Loboto-Me I just read a little bit from that site, one site is enough for me, anyway are they a member of CA ? if not invite them here.
One thing he said was something like the Church not being above God.
Well Jesus said “Peter upon this rock I shall build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. (Jesus didn’t say Churches)
We have also Jesus giving the Church the power to bind on earth, and whatever it does is bound in Heaven.
Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you say, and this is where prayer comes in and the power of the Holy Spirit, remember many wouldn’t accept the words of Jesus and walked away.
 
Bottle of Greer, yes that was a bad choice of words on my part. Obviously I believe God to be the ultimate authority, as I’ve mentioned in my posts to this person.

The Church is acting as prime minister as per Jesus’ instructions.

I’m surprised I would have had to explain this here on CA! It’s a good thing I didn’t use this choice of words while I was responding with that person, as you’re right, legalism could get me in trouble.

Eireann, The site is a secular one. They have no real interest in discussing religious matters unless it’s to express how wrong it is. The Holy Spirit has always been the one to change hearts, that’s all we can hope and pray for.

Oh kewl! Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to figure out an answer for her most of the day (on and off) on my microsoft word. I got immersed in the Acts of the Apostles online (see? It’s a learning experience for me too 🙂 ) I was going to try the eunich story showing where he was asked if he understood what he was reading, and where he said “How can I know without someone showing me?” (paraphrasing) I felt it shows that interpreting the bible without someone who’s knowledgeable and who’s part of the Church (Holy Spirit), there’s no way to know scripture for sure.

After supper I’ll continue on… ohhh and Thank You!!
 
I wonder if we should burn candles and then look for some graves to dig up… roasted bones by candle? 😉

Boy according to uristar, we’re quite a frightful people! eeek!
