I am 23 born and raised catholic. growing up i was really religous and always proud of my religion. i started distancing from my family and got into arguments with my closest cousins and father. i stopped going to church and i was about 13. i started masterbating on a daily basis and thats when my life turned around. i ended up dry humping 3 of my younger cousins while they were young. i started getting serious acne all over my face and back and was to embarassed to go back to church after arguing with my family with my acne. i havnt been to confession in 10 years and church in 6. i struggle with lust and this shame on me along with my acne. i am frightened to go to confession and face my family. i am positive my cousins were not aware of what i did because i have seen them often and it is never akward. i am ashamed embarassed and confused. i want my acne to go away but it wont and want to go to confession and be born again. i am typing this because i dont know what to ask what to say or what to do. there is no doubt in my mind that god doesnt not exist and want to repent my entire life and save my soul. any words of advice is appreciated.

I’ll be praying for you. Go and find a priest and go to confession. Tell him everything you’ve said here. I don’t know if you acne will go away, but your soul will feel better.

See a dermatologist about your acne and a priest about your other concerns.

God meets us where we are. Please go back to confession and Mass and receive grace to assist you in amending your life. Seek out some teaching on Catholic sexuality and take it one step at a time.

I take it this incident with your cousins was a childhood thing only? If so you must let it go. Confess and don’t let the guilt or shame lead you to believing you are unworthy of God.

Acne can often be successfully treated these days, but you must seek treatment from a Dermatologist rather than over the counter stuff at the pharmacy.

Nathanll,

You know, I started masturbating when I was 11. I often peeped though a hole to see a relative of mine naked when she takes a bath. I often brush my arms or hands to touch a female relative’s breast. I was 14 when I did this but you know what God has always been patient with me and called me back. I was in tears when I prayed for forgiveness. The Lord is faithful. He will cleanse you and grant you peace.

“Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18

I had my first confession when I was in 2nd grade and the next confession I had was when I was in my 1st year in college so that was roughly 10 years but the priest was accommodating and I never had a problem. Sure I was embarrassed and anxious but those were petty fears. So don’t be afraid to go to confession.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

Moreover, I don’t believe you don’t believe in God. You wouldn’t want to repent if you don’t believe in him, would you? The Lord is calling you back. “If today you hear His voice, harden not your heart.” Hebrews 3:15. In addition, today is the Day of Mercy as revealed by our Lord to St. Faustina as recorded in her Diary. Have faith in the Lord Jesus’ Divine Mercy. In His words:

"The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to my Mercy." (Diary 732)

"Were a soul like a decaying corpse, so that from a human standpoint, there would be no hope of restoration and everything would already be lost, it is not so with God. The miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full. Oh how miserable are those who do not take advantage of the miracle of God’s mercy!" (Diary 1448).

Do not be afraid my friend! Go to confession. Receive Holy Communion. Pray, pray and pray! You’re not the only one struggling with lust. Remain in Jesus and He will remain in you and you will have strength.

Now about your acne, see a dermatologist. The doctor will give you prescriptions to fight that acne problem of yours. He/she might even tell you to avoid certain foods that cause acne outbreak. But don’t forget to see the doctor of your soul. The Merciful Savoir is waiting for you at the confessional. He is just hidden by the priest. He is waiting, willing and wanting to heal your soul. Tell Him everything, every sin. Pour your heart out to God. Trust in Him and all will be well with you and your relationship with your family.

The peace of the Lord Jesus be with you and may He strengthen you with His Holy Spirit! I will be praying for you.:gopray:

Go to confession. Do NOT be afraid.

There is nothing so bad that it cannot be confessed. You will find relief. Make confession a regular habit. Go to Mass every Sunday or Saturday vigil – it also is necessary that you do this. It may not be instantaneous, but you should feel better with the first confession and continue to find relief as you go regularly. Trust me on this – it does work when you make confession and attend Mass regularly.

See a dermatologist.

God Bless.

Like others, I can only say … confession. Of course. It’s certainly a scary thought, particularly if you have been away from it a long time, and have a ‘list.’ But try to not let that fear keep you. I was just reading … that ‘do not fear’ is more used through out the bible than any other command. That … if I remember correctly how they put it, “God wants us to live in Him not fear Him.”

I can have terrible anxiety. When home I get terrified before confession. But I know really, that the one place that I certainly shouldn’t have any anxiety or fear, is in the church, or confession.

I’m not sure if I’m making sense. But try to not let fear or ‘shame’ keep you away. He is waiting. We’re waiting! :hug1:

Ultimately, the “not going” to confession and Mass overtook my fears about coming back. I got to the point where I’d welcome anything the priest could possibly say to me, than to not go at all.

Not going is defininately worse than anything that a priest will say to you. When you also commit to attending Mass regularly you will find things will begin to fall in place for you.

Go this Sunday, even if you can’t receive the Eucharist – you can if you go to confession on Saturday. This is the first Sunday before Lent and parishes are giving out guides to Lent. This sounds like the perfect time. You came here for a reason.

God Bless.

Print of your first post,

Arrange a confession with your local parish priest. Simply ring them up, ‘now’ and ask for a confession saying that you not been for awhile etc

Take the print out to your confession and simply read what you have written or if too worried to read it out, give it to the priest to read

you are in my prayers and good luck

God’s mercy is bigger than your sins. You’ll feel so much better after confession.

Yes, just go right ahead to confession with childlike confidence in God’s love for you and his mercy. I promise you the priest has heard much worse, and he wants to help you. Jesus is waiting for you so he can heal you, but you have to go to him (in the person of the priest, in confession), because he never forces himself on us.

Don’t be embarrassed… you are not alone in your struggles, as other posters indicated here.

My return was confession in the rectory – not during regular times. He can call the parish and make an appointment. Under the circumstances, that seems the way to begin so that he can go and receive this Sunday before Lent begins. I happen to prefer face to face – it certainly seems to help me.

Find a Catholic church in your area, that you do not attend and where you do not know anyone, and they do not know you, espicially the priest. Go to their regularly scheduled, weekly confession and use the screen. If you need more time, find out when they will have their Lenten Pennance service and go then. Any priest you go to, will have heard it all before and will not judge you. The longer you wait, the harder it will be, the sooner you go, the sooner you will feel like a new person and wonder what took you so long to do it. The acne will start to clear up after you get rid of the stress of going to confession. I know it is hard, but you cannot move on with the rest of your life until you deal the guilt of your past actions.

Thank you all for your responses I was sick to my stomach yesterday while typing that and today I already feel better.

I will go to confession say every sin I ever committed and start attending mass and I will embrace the shame and guilt, thank you all so much. I feel much better.

God Bless

Gods love is simple and pure

it is us who makes things hard

Am glad the posts have helped renew your faith and trust and I pray that you find peace in God. Amen

Nathan:

I met a woman at a Catholic College who was forty years old, and between the ages of 14 and 37 had been a prostitute. She had had multiple abortions, and had also been involved in drug dealing and many other things. She was desperate in the end, like yourself, and went to see a priest. She confessed her sins, reformed her life, and, as I say, then went to college. She is now a very happy and devout Catholic, and teaches religious studies.

I also knew a girl who was 18 years old and had been propositioning groups of men since she was 15. She had been indulging in all kinds of group acts. She was absolutely obssessed with sex to the point that she ended up at one point in a hotel room with 17 (yes, seventeen!!!) men. She too got to the point where she was desperate to change her life. She went to see a priest, and cleansed herself of all the sins she had been carrying. She wrote it all down on a piece of paper, went into the confessional and read it to the priest. Once she had made the confession, the priest told her to go out and rip up her list of sins, because they didn’t exist anymore - she loves to tell the story of skipping down the street ripping up that list, and how indescribably happy she was! She is now a happily married mother, and a great example to all who know her.

I actually also have a relative who had terrible problems with acne, and after suffering all kinds of anxiety over it for ages, went to a doctor and had it almost totally cleared up within a few weeks.

My friend - do not despair. Just decide to change today, and everything will be just fine. See a priest. See a Dr.

I will keep you in my prayers.

God bless you.

Nathan,

I was so pleased to see your post about your feeling better and planning to go to confession and just lay it all out. I would highly recommend that you tell the priest the situation. Tell him you have not been in a long time, tell him (briefly) about your worries, and that you are a little nervous about being there, and may need his assistance as you make your confession.

I was just a little concerned about you saying you will “embrace” the shame and guilt. Maybe I misunderstood what you said - but one of the effects of confession is that you are being unburdened of shame and guilt by Christ! You will come out - and should come out - feeling liberated, happy, free, and light, because Christ has forgiven and healed and blessed you with his loving mercy and peace.

🙂

Hey My friend.

My prayer will be with you from now.

I Have some advices for you :

1- Try to see a doctor first

2- Go inside any church, just sit inside and just talk with Christ in the Holy sacrament, and tell him "Jesus, i’m here near you, to your feet, just here, i’m just here, you look at me, i’m here in front of you"
Juste tell him that, if you feel good, cool stay a long time, just look at him. If you don’t feel good, no problem, just stay, a long time, or as you can

3- Then, as you can, see a priest, don’t forget that God Never Judge us, it’s Humans who judge people every-time.
Don’t be shame, because his mercy is like an overflowing stream that reverses everything in its path. Don’t put a barrier to his mercy please, it’s important, he loves you.

I promise you, after a confession, you will feel better in your heart. And leave the doctor make his work, and God his job on you.

Believe me, you will never be disappointed.

I hope that you will come back here with god news for me 🙂

God bless you my friend.
