Hi to all my brothers and sisters,
I know there are so many of you who need urgent prayers and perhaps your cause is greater than mine but I need you to take the time to please give me comfort, support and prayers. My eldest has ADHD and learning disabilities. She does not have a severe case but it does impair her to a degree, actually to the point of dropping out of college. She thinks it better to go to work. Maybe the only way she can learn is to actually do it. I don’t want her to give up. She has so many facilities at her disposal yet she declines to use them.

I don’t know if her real problem is from feeling inadequate, neglected or the fact that her behavior gets her into trouble: like when she called her father awful names under her breath because she was in disagreement with him and he heard her and went to her and began to beat her. Thank God that others were present and stopped him from doing real damage. He hurt her and she went to live with family. She is now back and the tension is high. I am finding a place of calm through prayer and the Mercy of Christ. I will not allow myself to feel fear or despair. She is responsible for her actions. I can remind her that I will help if she allows it. But I don’t always approach it with calm. She refuses to get help, take natural supplements, use resources that are at her disposal, take medication. I cannot do anything else but to leave her be and let her feel independent. I cannot lead her or pick up the pieces. I only pray that God helps her. I feel for her but I will not pity her.

I don’t know what to do because I am afraid of my husband’s reaction. I cannot control what happens. I fear for her well being. Her state of mind, while she is strong she is very vulnerable. She believes in Christ and loves Him. But she is suffering inside. Her relationship with her father was good but now after that last incident? He doesn’t resort to this but she is impulsive and down right nasty at times. She has attacked me and I her. I don’t involve myself with her. I am learning to let go and let be. Whatever happens it is her responsibility. I am growing tired but I will not give in or give up. I will give this burden to the Lord. I am tired of hauling it around.

Please pray for peace of mind for all my family. Pray for her to find her way according to God’s Will. Pray for reparation for broken hearts and relationship(she stated that she hates me very much). I need to forgive to go forward. My heart is so broken that I feel better off dead, but were it not for the love of Christ I would be. He lives in me and is my only consolation. However, I need your support to continue to strengthen me.

I will take what advice you can give. Please help.

Thank you and may God Bless you all.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Perhaps a group home should be considered where she can function well among her peers and gain a sense of balance. There should be separation between You, the father and the daughter. What father beats his daughter? You also sound as if you could use some counseling, too, if only to help handle the situation better. What would be wrong with the daughter working? It would probably help her sense of worth. Collage is not for everyone. I will pray for all involved. There are no easy answers; Only
God can work things out.

I must confess I don’t believe that half of the diagnosis for ADHD are accurate. I say this after watching several family members dealing with this issue. I could elaborate, but suffice it to say, most of time these kids just need someone to teach them how to focus. An odd reality my sister experienced while working on large cattle ranges for 25 years: Not one child living on those ranches had this diagnosis. And that includes Colorado, Oregon, Arizona, California and New Mexico.

One reason is they learn by the age of 2 that if one does not pay attention to what the heck they are doing they can get kicked in the head by a horse or cow, trampled in a stamped, bit by snakes or shot by being careless with a gun.

Despite all of this, I do think some people do have problems focusing, are easily distracted and that this can be in the form of a disability they must overcome. If your daughter is old enough to be in college I suspect she is an adult. (Over 18.) Time for her to move out and live on her own. Getting a job may be the best thing for her and a full year on her own will certain teach her to focus. If you husband is inclined to be physically violent than your daughter needs to press assault charges against him. (Yes I said that.)

Frankly, if there is a history of domestic violence in your family your daughter may actually be suffering from Traumatic Stress Disorder, and she should seek professional help for that. College can wait, and despite what most people have been brain washed into thinking, it does not pay off as much as one might think.

Keep this in mind: ONLY 2% of the population (including those with higher education) make 250K or more a year. The average person makes 40K tops. Some jobs pay more than that and don’t require a degree. Time to figure out what is more important; a pricey piece of paper that says you have a degree, or contentment in life with what you are doing, how you live and choices you make. I have two degrees and if I had it to do over I would never go to College in the first place. I would travel, do missionary work, but college would be at the bottom the list of important things to do.

Prayers for family in conflict

Lord Jesus, be with this family. Grant them Your peace and harmony, an end to conflict and division. Give them the compassion to better understand one another, wisdom and love to assist one another, and trust and patience to live peacefully together. Grant that through the intercession of Your Mother, Mary, and St. Joseph, your family may become a holy family accepting one another, working together in unity, selflessly dedicated to one another and to You. Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (Still Hoping’s family). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Still Hoping’s family’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Praying for peace and healing in your family. Also praying for healing for your daughter and for all necessary graces for her. Praying for strength for you too.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Thank you I will look into this. BTW my daughter is only 16. I can’t kick her out. She is willing to work but wants to go back to school to get a teaching degree. I know that she is good but you may be right that she is suffering from all of this. I know that as a child she witnessed her father abuse me; though he doesn’t do it anymore to me. He attacked her twice and it left her hurt, confused and with pain. When I confront her and ask to get help together she tells me to F*** off. She hates me more that her dad. I don’t know what to do except to pray and be supportive. I leave her alone.

Thank you for your prayers. God Bless.
