Thanks so much for setting me straight! I looked at the newest DRM today, and had my friend put it aside for me. It looks and feels like my old one, but the translation is the New American Bible, wich is not my favorite (I like the RSV).

The price of the DRM I saw was $69.95, which is ten dollars more than I paid for my old one, several years ago. The price will go up to eighty-dollars in a couple of weeks…But, I will get mine for the old price…

Thanks Keith! I just purchased a Daily Roman Missal today. It should arrive next week. It is the newest edition. I didn’t realize that masses were said in Latin, meaning not the TLM. Thanks for your advice. Here is the link for the new 1962 missal to be released on December.
Dear RichT,

If the DRM (published by Scepter) that you just bought is from last year’s printing (the edition before that one was printed over fifteen years ago, they don’t print it on a yearly basis), it will contain numerous (think “hundreds”) of misprints that impair ease of use, especially in the Proper of Saints.

As far as I know, the Fall 2004 edition hasn’t been printed yet (but I may very well be wrong); keep in mind that many bookstores would consider last year’s edition the “new one.” In fact, they wouldn’t even be printing it anew this Fall except for the fact that the 2003 editions has such a great number of misprints.

I just wanted to make sure you are aware of all this.

Rich:

Yes the Latin-English Missal for 6.50 is the correct one for the TLM. The 1962 Daily Missal from Angelus Press has me excited except for the included:

An explanation of “The Liturgy or Public Worship of the Catholic and Roman Church”
A Summary of Christian Doctrine

I’m worried that the above items may be explanatory of the SSPX view of things, so I’m worried that it won’t be entirely orthodox. If that is the case, I’d just as soon not have it.

WhoseBob:

The DRM that I use for the normative Mass is from the Midwest Theological Forum, not sure if this is the same one you are referring to or not. There are some ease of use issues with the Propers of the Saints and the placing of the optional Prefaces but overall I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly.

Yes, Midwest Theological Forum and Scepter are for all practical purposes the same thing. Look in the front of the book to see when the edition you have was published. Also, if the readings are taken from the Jerusalem Bible Lectionary that formerly was approved for use in the USA, then you have the older edition (which I have too, it was and is great!). The 2003 edition is updated to use the NAB Lectionary readings (even though the JB was superior, the NAB is now the only Lectionary approved for use in the USA). Also, the 2003 edition has the Handbook of Prayers devotional book included at the back (though I don’t think that section explicitly bears the title “Handbook . . .”).
