Another idea I found of value was from St Pio who explained that our life here is like a spiritual training ground and that understanding our lives here is like looking at the underside of a piece of needlework, very messy and complex, but turn it over and there is the beautiful picture come to light.
(I should say that the field referred to in the parable which should be bought always reminds me of the Catholic Church, and it’s a modern phrase, we buy into something.)
"Poor in spirit” designates an inner attitude of receptivity and openness, and one is blessed by it because only in this state is it possible to receive anything.
