If he indeed supports abortion, he is already excommunicated. Signing “this” is unnecessary.

– Mark L. Chance.

Why do our clerics allow him to receive communion then?

I guess what I’m really trying to say is that they should PUBLICLY excommunicate him.

He’s not the only politician who’s gone under the same criticism. However we must remember that as Catholics we are called to not judge others and to assume, if we don’t know for sure, that someone doing as they should. What I mean is, we, as Catholics, should assume that this politician has repented, unless we know 100% sure that he doesn’t (like if he made a statement of some sort). Catholics are often dubbed judgmental, and it looses many souls. My mother is one of those pushed away from the Church because of some of its follower’s judgemenatlism (can’t find a real word for that). If he’s unrepentant and continues like he has, as another poster commented, he’s ALREADY excommunicated. One must not forget the powerful auto-excommunication that many ignore. If he’s excommunicated its more his job to not receive Communion rather than the priests. However someone should probably let him know he’s not in communion with the Catholic Church. If he takes communion, its another sin on his soul. Let God handle the judging.
