Ever notice we have like 40,000 Christmas songs and like maybe three Easter songs that just get rotated every few weeks?

There are plenty of great Easter hymms, in fact the Anglicans even have an Easter Carol service on easter monday. Jesus Christ is risen…should only be sung on Easter Day not during the rest of the EASTER season.

I waited all Lent last year to hear Jesus Christ is Risen Today played triumphantly on the organ, which was silent throughout Lent. It’s the only time of the year we sing that song. Sing out people! That song is the Easter Song. I’ll take that over “Join in the Dance” which sounds more like singing Ring Around the Rosie.

I think we only sing Jesus Christ is Risen Today on Easter Sunday. (I don’t think we normally sing it at the Vigil.)

But at least we aren’t sick of Easter songs by the day Easter comes along. By the time Christmas comes along we have already been hearing the Christmas songs on the radio and in stores for weeks.

So many “every Sunday” hymns have Easter themes running through them that we only have a few “special” Easter hymns.

How about, sing out earth and skies. May not be an Easter song but awesome none the less.

Well “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” is a great hymn that can be used any Sunday of Easter, especially Easter Sunday itself or Divine Mercy Sunday (the Second Sunday of Easter).

My parish uses a great plethora of Easter hymns:

Jesus Christ Is Risen Today
Christ, the Lord, Is Risen Today (Victimae Paschali)
Christ, the Lord, Is Risen Today (Llanfair)
Festival Canticle: Worthy Is Christ
Join in the Dance
Three Days
Jesus Is Risen
Christ Is Risen from the Dead
Christ Is Risen, Sing O Christian

the list goes on and on…

I wouldn’t have a problem singing “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” over “Join in the Dance”.

I wouldn’t complain about just three Easter songs being rotated as long as they are of the quality of “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”.

Why is it that every single time, without fail, I’m subjected to “On Eagles Wings” when I attend a Catholic church? As I say this, those occasions are always funerals so maybe that has something to do with it.

As someone else mentioned, there are many great protestant hymns (JC Risen Today is a Charles Wesley hymn) and Catholic chants for the Easter season. Someone needs to do their job and teach and expose to their congregations.
